1up to be playing Ghostbusters tonight

Hell, the general public is still wanting to know if it's all the original voices and if Winston is in the game.

You've been on GameFAQs, haven't you? As for the towers, it just kinda bugs me a little since the game setting is ‘91, not ’01.

Fair enough. I didn't realize the process was so involved that changing a mistake really wasn't “worth it” if it was a minor error (which they are).

It's very involved. You're talking hundreds of people working across the world trying to make a unified product.

If an animator in China is responsible for making Venkman do an animation, how is he supposed to know the alice frame is on without the proton pack?

To be fair, it's something we should have noticed, and we did, but it was too late when we did. It's the nature of the business.

For instance, the position of the rookies hand on the wand. When the contract animators received the 3d files to animate with, we provided the GBs fully equipped with the slime blower attachments. That's just how they are set up in the 3d files. The animator animated to that equipment setup. When the animation gets dropped into our engine, the engine automatically says, ‘Oh hey, they don’t have the slime tether yet.' and turns off the equipment. Then you get the floating hand.

So, when we see mistakes like that, we have to make a decision. Should we spend time fixing that or fixing something else. In the end, a priority list is made and tasks are given out. I have a list I was working on, and I had to put them in order of priority. I didn't get to them all. I could only do what I had the time for.

In terms of the Ecto model, I worked 3 straight 20 hour days adjusting it, but I didn't have time to make it perfect. I had a list of things I wanted to do with it, so I started with the most important and worked down the list; i.e. exterior, roof rack, interior, materials, etc. It's not perfect, but for the model you will be able to inspect up close and interact with, it's much more accurate than where it was before. You see the cinemat one only a couple of times and each time only for a couple of seconds. By the time I was done with the fixes, it was much too late to make it into the cinemats.

Skanker, I haven't played the game yet but I can surely say you made an awesome job and I'd like to personally thank you for what you and you crew did as I have the opportunity to do it :-)

The same can be said about the firehouse doors. They were changed to their current configuration before GB2, but in GB2, they had the same doors as they did in 1984.

It's an alternate timeline so a number of things could have happened to the towers.

Granted, that's just a way to justify them not being there. In the end, it was just a mistake on behalf of the cinemat company.

Personally, I wouldn't say a mistake as much as politically correctness (which sucks), but there's not a whole lot that can be done about it now with the game this close to release (hopefully.)

Skanker,

Thanks for the info. I'm really psyched about this game and am eternally grateful that all the parties involved are making a dream of mine a reality.

no, it didn't have anything to do with political stuff I'm almost certain. Of course, that was a different company, so I'm not sure what was going on.

If you're an intern and they tell you, ‘get a picture of Manhattan from the air’, then you go get it. The towers probably didn't even pop into his head because he's burnt out, underpaid and just wants to go home to sleep.

Of course that's just one of many possible reasons why they're not there.

It very well could have been political reasons, who knows.

Well, given how things are nowadays, I personally wouldn't be to surprised, but like I said, whats done is done and its to close to launch for anymore improvements on the game.

yeah, they'll be working off reference photos on the like, they won't be building a model of Manhattan from accurate blueprints of every building and their specific locations (okay, taking that to the extreme, but you know what I mean!) To be honest, I wouldn't honestly be able to say, “Oh, hey look the twin towers are missing from that portion of the skyline!” because i'm not entirely familiar with the skyline pre (or post) 9/11.

It's entirely different if they were in the cinemat and then a later one they weren't. But I think it's just a bit of a fudge up on behalf of the reference photos and such.

Anyway…back on topic.

You know what bugged me in the 1up test stream….he didn't go an make the buffet table kosher. But, then he probably isn't as up on the achievements as some of us. Heh.

I figure this….

A cult used the necronomicon and summoned a great beast. The Ghostbusters couldn't defeat it using the proton packs, but they found out the beast relies on frequencies. They soon looks up the blue prints of the twin towers and founf out they were made using similar metal girders used in the apartment Dana was in like the first movie. They realized it could be used to attract paranormal activities if activated.

Using the twin towers as a giant tuning fork, they sent a high frequency pulse that attracted the beast to them. There, they upped the frequency and created a portal which sucked both the beast and the twin towers(empty of course) with them.

I know it's not canon, but hey it works. Again I like the idea of using the twin towers as a giant psychokinetic tuning fork.
