7 minutes of GB3 Chat with Harold Ramis!

This was a great interview from Harold Ramis and it's good to see he knows the story has to come first in order for a third Ghostbusters to work. He's absolutely right when he says Indy 4 was a disaster. Who knows what they were thinking with some of the garbage in that movie.

It's also good to hear that he's hoping to combine old special effects with new ones and not simply rely on cgi like all movies are doing these days. Perfect example would be the last Superman movie. The flying from Superman: The Movie was way more believeable than some of the techniques used in Superman Returns, and that was 30 years ago, yet it still holds up. So I hope Harold sticks to his word and doesn't go all crazy with cgi.

I'm also hoping we don't have the Ghostbusters hiring new recruits to take over for them. I don't want Seth Rogan, or Paul Rudd, or Jack Black or any of these well known comedic actors who are in EVERYTHING these days as new ghostbuster recruits. I don't have anything against them really, but I just don't think their worthy to put on the jump suits and proton packs. Just have the Ghostbusters be in retirement but have to come out to save the city one last time.

A little anecdote about bad CGI.

My roommate's dad does computer effects for movies. He even has a school for it. One of his former students did the work for Reitman's “My Super Ex-Girlfriend”.

He uses the CGI scenes from that movie as an example to his students on why they need to pay attention in his class.

Harold sounds enthusiastic about this project and I bet something good is coming. It's a good thing we have waited all this time for a new movie, we received a Great GB game and the movie industry saw the mistakes they've made in their new films.

The scripts were very good in the past, it was an obligation for the FX to show their substance; look at “Alien” “Odyssey” “StarWars” “Ghostbusters” etc. Today, it's like the FX are soo good that the script only needs to describe what we realy need to know; maybe it's becose the new generation of film maker is trying to make something spectacular as the feeling they received back then. Maybe they should keep the good ol'recipe, added with today's technology.

Movies based on games were 50-50, but our movie already got a soul and I bet the results will be awesome.
