80s Revival and GB3

I think Sony should take a hard look at reviving this project, especially considering the recent wave of 80's nostalgia. Just this year alone, we are seeing new takes on GI Joe, He-Man, and the Transformers, and as mentioned on this board, a possible film revival of TMNT.
If this stuff proves marketable, why not GB again? I do think that it would have to be an entirely new cast though, in order to make it marketable to kids. All the orginals are pushing near 60, and having them as main characters probably wouldnt sell well to a younger crowd (though having them in cameos is essential smile )Jack Black, whose name has repeatedly come up on this board, would be a perfect fit in my opinion, as well as Chris Rock.
I really think Sony is making a mistake if they don't look into this. If they get the right script and people, they would bring in a whole new audience, as well as the old ghostheads, who have been waiting 13 years for something new. Most importantly they would revive a FRANCHISE, the thing Hollywood execs dream about.

Yes, well, if anything would sway Sony's mind, it might just be the 80's revival, which isn't limited to what you've said. Added to that are AAF's “Movies” video, and the load of new bands pooping up with a semi-80s sound. 80s movies are everywhere. And That 80's Show was on this past TV season, though it was cancelled. I never saw it, but it looked stupid.

Oh, and as a reference:

Ernie hudson is 56, Harold Ramis is 57, Bill Murray is 51, and Dan Aykroyd is about to turn 50 in July.

Thanks….I thought Murray and Akroyd were older…anyway i still think the only way to make the franchise marketable again would be with newer, younger people, with smaller supporting roles for the original guys, likely sans Murray, who seems bent on not appearing in sequels (i.e, Charlie's Angels 2).
