88MPH NEEDS YOU NOW

Guys

I've been reading the various topics, and it would seem that a great deal of you are either planning to purchase the Legion Trade Graphic Novel from either Graham Crackers, or are hoping it eventually makes it to your local stores…while usually, there wouldn't be an issue with this…I'm worried that it's a different matter for Ghostbusters.

It's more then likely that GCC has bought a specified amount, the payment has already gone to Sebastien and 88MPH…but I bet the bigger problem is orders from 88's site. We don't know how many editions GCC has bought outright, it could be a few hundred…or less…and GCC will only buy more when they sell out.
I feel we should also purchase a good number from the 88MPH website, they'll have a bigger order then GCC will have, and are far less likely to run out straight away, in addition to this, I've heard rumblings (Unconfirmed), that the Foreward by Dan Aykroyd may very well be a 88MPH exclusive, and so might not be included in Titan's soft cover version of the GN.

I know it seems a bit sudden, well, I've been in talks…and heard some…worrisome things…we know the continuation of the series depends on how well the Legion Graphic Novel…Extreme Ghostbusters could have led some way to a third movie, but failed…but, we have the chance to keep this going.

Unfortunately, I just can't afford to buy it from 88MPH, so I'll probably get it through GCC.

Good luck. GCC lists is as out of stock - if you pre-ordered with them, 88mph has arranged with them to meet those orders, but there has been no word from them about taking new orders - and if they do, it will likely be at a higher price.

It's a $13 difference in price between 88mph and GCC original offered price. I can understand that significant for some of you, but if it makes you feel any better it's money that goes directly to 88mph, which in turn helps support the license and the new issues to come.

Well…I'm really pissed and I'm probably going to have to pass on this. I intended to spend only about $20 on it, now it's going to be come out to about 40 (8 dollars more than even through GCC). I *really* wanted it, too.

Out of stock? Wow…I'm sure glad I ordered it on Saturday! I almost didn't…

Chuck posted something explaining that in fact, there was apparantly a one dollar difference in shipping between GCC and 88MPH:

A message from Seb

And money doesn't fall from the sky!
And food doesn't fall into my mouth!

This is a point for 88mph, not a strike against. Most people would have just cancelled the book and walked away. Seb wants to put this book out and has worked hard to try and find a way, any way to put it out. It may not be perfect, but I'll back the attempt.

It's not about 88mph being unable to meet demand. If you think about it a bit harder, you'll understand that.

You don't have to like it, but try not to be so snotty about it.

And unless your local comic shop is buying direct from 88mph, your order has been cancelled.

It's not my best work, but it was a bit rushed (I'm behind on school work!)

And please, don't give me any of that “You're not a true Ghsotbusters fan!” bullsh*t. There's a difference between being a fan and a fanboy.

And it's not as though we haven't bought the books when they have shown up, either. I have spent tons on the variants and exclusive covers. It's just this is asking too much for me.

Think. Harder.

And I am calling you snotty, Snotty.

Stop talking like 88mph is Coke or Rebok - there is no “they”, it's Sebastien. It's one guy trying to get the book out. He didn't cancel the order because he couldn't produce enough copies for all the stores - once you get the presses going, you can print one or you can print millions - the only limiter is paying for it and the only limiter to paying for it is if there are pre-orders to cover your investment. Even with pre-orders, there are two numbers you need to keep in mind. You need a certain level of demand so that Diamond will even carry it, which is linked to, but not locked in to, the percentage Diamond makes off the sales.

More often than not, when this situation arises, comics just sink from sight. Sebastien however has offered a new option so that most people who want it can get it. Yes, the average buyer will be lost because it's not sitting in a store looking at them. Yes, a few fans will be lost because they cannot or will not pay the new cost. And that's an accepted fact.

But you don't get to whine about it. We are not intitled to this book. Our love for Ghostbusters doesn't not mean this book gets made counter to market reality. And to post here like it's an insult to you personally is a slap in the face of the guy who ran the corporate gauntlet just to get the license, organized the creation of the books, and is now working to find a way to make the books a continued reality.

I wasn't going to say you're not a true ghostbusters fan. I've never said that about anyone and I doubt I ever will. That you've decided to paint me as that kind of person proves my point… Snotty.

You've had your say. Blow.
