88MPH NEEDS YOU NOW

Think. Harder.

And I am calling you snotty, Snotty.

Stop talking like 88mph is Coke or Rebok - there is no “they”, it's Sebastien. It's one guy trying to get the book out. He didn't cancel the order because he couldn't produce enough copies for all the stores - once you get the presses going, you can print one or you can print millions - the only limiter is paying for it and the only limiter to paying for it is if there are pre-orders to cover your investment. Even with pre-orders, there are two numbers you need to keep in mind. You need a certain level of demand so that Diamond will even carry it, which is linked to, but not locked in to, the percentage Diamond makes off the sales.

More often than not, when this situation arises, comics just sink from sight. Sebastien however has offered a new option so that most people who want it can get it. Yes, the average buyer will be lost because it's not sitting in a store looking at them. Yes, a few fans will be lost because they cannot or will not pay the new cost. And that's an accepted fact.

But you don't get to whine about it. We are not intitled to this book. Our love for Ghostbusters doesn't not mean this book gets made counter to market reality. And to post here like it's an insult to you personally is a slap in the face of the guy who ran the corporate gauntlet just to get the license, organized the creation of the books, and is now working to find a way to make the books a continued reality.

I wasn't going to say you're not a true ghostbusters fan. I've never said that about anyone and I doubt I ever will. That you've decided to paint me as that kind of person proves my point… Snotty.

You've had your say. Blow.

Amen Brother.

Okay, okay, calm down everyone.

Innmouth: I haven't seen Castewar doing anything like you've suggested, so it would be nice if you could post an example.

Okay, another note, it is probably, in some ways, better that it is sold online. While yes, it would seem the best choice is selling copies to individual stores…Sebastien would have to print a large batch for a national distribution, which would cost a lot, and another problem is that not every single issue would be sold from every store…and that could lead to lost money.

Sebastien sells the Graphic Novels from his site, he knows how many orders he's getting, he knows how many books he's publishing and he knows just how much money he'll get and hopefully be able to build a picture as to how plausible a Ongoing series can be once he's taken orders.

Sorry to double post, but I got a reply from 88MPH in relation to a message I sent asking about the prices.

88MPH Studios Offer:

GN: $24.95

Shipping: $13

Additional box for postage protection.

GCC Offer

GN: $24.95

Shipping: $12

Standard protection.

In actual fact, the difference was only one dollar, and for that dollar you're getting one additional layer of protection for your comic…you know, I'd much rather have that one extra layer of protection and only fork out an extra dollar…especially after my experience with the Toys guys and the bent coners of my Vinz Clortho cover.

I cant buy the g. novel. Its too much money.
Its gonna hurt that it wont come out in the comic shops but ehhh such is the way of life. Personally, I have a feeling the run will be low..a couple hundered if that…

I would be interested to see how many do buy it for the price.

I was always going to buy it, no matter what the price, I've been waiting for something this good to happen to Ghostbusters since RGB ended, I'm not going to let the opportunity to own what will possibly be a land mark in Ghostbusters history pass me buy because it's necessary for the price to be upped a measly dollar or so.

Soooo, let me get this straight: This Graphic Novel, is it the entire Legion series together(and Zeddemore Factor too), or is this the begining of the ongoing series?

The hardcover that they are taking pre-orders for right now is a reprint of the four issues of the Legion series, plus the Winston story, plus extras.

Not to be confused with the planned semi-regular series, which is being going to be printed in a perfect / square bound format, which is technically a graphic novel, just not a big thick one, like the kind people usually think of. I don't know if you've ever seen the Twisted Toyfare Theater collections. That's the kind of size Sebastien has in mind - roughly two or three standard issues worth of material in one book.

That make sense?

Um, sort of. And no, I haven't seen the Twisted Toyfair book you mentioned.

OK, well, let's just stick to the first bit - no, this hardcover that 88mph is taking orders for now isn't the start of the ongoing series, it is the reprint of the Legion series, plus extras (such as the Zeddemore Factor.)

The exact contents of the Legion Graphic Novel, offered by 88MPH are as follows:

Foreward by Ghostbusters Creator, Dan Aykroyd
The Zeddemore Factor (In full colour)
And with a happier ending*
Ghostbusters Legion 1 of 4
Ghostbusters Legion 2 of 4
Ghostbusters Legion 3 of 4
Ghostbusters Legion 4 of 4
Concept Artwork
Art pinups

The Titan Books Graphic Novel, while containing pretty much all of that, does not contain the forward from Dan Aykroyd, which is worth the price in it's own right…how often does Dan right messages in relation to a Ghostbusters product? Let alone the actual fan gathering itself?

*I could never give up the opportunity to reference Gremlins…shame it had to be Gremlins II. (*winston)
