accually id use foam core, its sturdy and can hold it's own pretty well, just dun lay on it. But you can get foam core for about 3.oo bucks a big sheet at wal-mart or k-mart.

Ectoman, I tried to make an EGB pack from cardboard, and it didn't last for long.

VA, do you happen to know of anywhere else where they sell foamboard cheap?

I made mine with stuff I found around the house. But I don't think everyone has a workroom where theres a bunch of old useless equipment and car radios, like I have. The only thing I bought were the straps and alice pack frame.

If you're not in an extreme hurry, just take your time, gather old electronics and junk, and you'd be surprized, I've built before without buying a thing. I was lucky enought to get my hands on an old satalite dish control box, for the huge statlite dishes that are probably older than ghostbusters. Lots of great parts in 'em. +smile
