A Completely Different Idea

I was thinking the other day about the speculation surrounding the whole GB3 project, I've heard many script ideas some of them are quite good whilst others are quite frankly utter garbage.

Considering that most people are in dispute as to how the story should move forward I decided that maybe a different approach could be considered, maybe instead of moving forward we should move backwards.

Think about it, between the points where GB1 ended and GB2 begins there is a ‘void’ of five years, now to me five years is quite a lot of unaccounted time which led me to wonder what exactly happened in those five years?
We know that the Containment unit was shut down and that all the captured ghosts are running loose, we also know that for a while Peter and Dana were involved with each other so if Bill Murray really doesnt want to do a third GB installment he can be written out that way.
In GB2 Winston said that the team were sued by a lot of different parties, most people know that a lawsuit doesnt happen overnight things like that take time to go through the system.

I think that ‘GB1.5’ could be a very entertaining movie and would not damage the image we all have of the Ghostbusters saga by intruducing a ‘new team’ or making any unessassary changes.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think that would really work. I've seen many ideas about a new script, but Sony doesn't even wanna do the one I suppose they have. I agree there are many things that should have happened between the two movies, but ghostbusters is an action comedy so you need ghosts to bust and the world to be in danger. I just don't see that happening while Ray and Egno are at the court and Winston babysitting some 12year-olds in the grey suit. Sorry! I do like your comitment though.

I considered writing an “in-between” novel for GB at one point. I thought it would be interesting if the Ghostbusters discovered another threat to the planet and had to put a stop to it while simultaneously preventing themselves from being shut down.

Unfortunately, my idea never got any further than that.
