A discussion topic that hopefully hasn't been asked or started before...

*wipes off the dust and cob-webs* o.o Been a while.

Well anyway, the subject that I'm curious to know about, which I hope HASN'T been asked before… is….

What would you have liked to have seen, or happen, with either the Real Ghostbusters or Extreme Ghostbusters… besides not being cancelled. Was there concepts or situations you felt were left unanswered, subject matter untouched, and other such things?

For RGB: I personally would've liked to have seen more connections made between the cartoons and the movies. Sure they showed us that one episode about how Slimer came to live with them, which took place soon after the first movie, in cartoon continuity, the occasional Terror Dog and Walter Peck would show his face on the show from time to time, but I would've liked to have seen a bit more of that kinda stuff. Specially as the 2nd movie rolled around, the only change from that (that I personally noticed, or remember) was that they brought Louis Tully into the group. No real mention of Vigo, or anything like that. GRANTED this was a different continuity, but it wouldn't have hurt to have some follow-ups from the films.

Would've also have been interesting to have seen them tackle more paranormal subjects outside of the States. Specially in Asia, with it's unique concepts of ghosts for example.

For XGB: I loved the continuity of this show, the ties it kept to some of the original Ghostbusters cartoons. I would've kept it up, like shown what happened to some of the Real Ghostbusters' allies and friends in the “ten years” between shows. Mr. Stay Puft, Louis Tully, the Junior Ghostbusters, or even Walter Peck.

Also would've been nice to have seen them finally bring in Samhain, after constantly teasing about him in the intro.

*shrugs* anyone else have some ideas?

I deffinately think there was more to be told for both.

i mean we would of have more XGB, if it didnt air on UHF. and actually had some decent syndication on Fox Kids or Kids WB. unless outside of my area it was. *shrugs*

But they did mention Vigo in “Partners in Slime”. its on the GB2 DVD. Egon explains to peter “i collected some of this slime, for when we busted Vigo” though the slime was yellow instead of purple/pink.

But ofcourse..theres alot more to be told to both shows, but they were both inconveniently canceled, so neither were never given to chance to conclude the series.

- I always thought a return of Gozer would have been a nice finale for RGB. There were many references in episodes from the earlier seasons like “Citizen Ghost”, “The Collect Call of Cathulhu”, “Janine Melnitz, Ghostbuster”, “Captain Steel Saves the Day”, “The Devil in the Deep”, “The Revenge of Murray The Mantis”, and one much later in “The Haunting of Heck House”. It would have provided a, though somewhat predictable, book end feeling imo.

- I would liked to have seen both Samhain and The Bogeyman make a full on appearance again. It had been a while, about four years for both I think.

- I think the backstory of Tobin should have been explored at some point on the show, but it was done in the comic books.

- Who or what Slimer was prior to the “disgusting blob”, is something I wanted to see also. Too bad they forbid them from exploring that.

- This one may be unpopular, but I wouldn't have minded Dana Barrett turning up in one episode. They brought Louis Tully in for many of them, so I like to think she did exist in the RGB universe.

- I was a fan of the big end of the world episodes like “Knock, Knock” and “Ragnarock and Roll”. Wouldn't have minded seeing one or two more of those. A few more character-based episodes like “Look Homeward, Ray” and “Cry Uncle” would have been cool. I always enjoyed the little facts you'd find out about a certain Ghostbuster in those.

- I think tapping back into more legends and myths would have been a good move. Also, a few more memorable original ghosts would have nice. The last one for me, was The Ghostmaster. 89-91 didn't really create any truly standout villains imo.

As for XGB, I'm not really sure.

Two explainations actually had been given for the origin of Slimer.

Oh yeah, that he was a result of occult activity at the Hotel. The other was that he was the ghost of a King I think?

I tend to believe he was the result of the occult activities at the Sedgewick…I dislike the whole king thing…especially since the king he was supposed to be was Remils…which is obviously Slimer spelled backwards

I wonder somtimes if the writer who though that up thought he was clever or something

You'd think after playing Castlevania for so long I would have cottoned onto the fact that Alucard is Dracula backwards but…let's just say i'm feeling slightly stupid right now!

The only difference being that there was actually rationalization for why Alucard (which was not his real name ) was called Alucade…and besides…the name was actually a cool name

::edit::

Since his first appearance in the 1997's Akumajō Dracula X: Gekka no Yasōkyoku / Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Alucard has been popularly named Adrian Farenheights Tepes better known as Alucard. The reason he chose the moniker of Alucard in Castlevania universe atleast (which has been copied over in several stories since) was he was the opposite of Dracula
