A new cartoon series strictly based on the new comic...

I dont know, I would miss the originals too much, like I did in EGB. The idea and reasonings behind it are good, but what if we did it but reversed it. The show is still about the original ghostbusters, but once in awhile they run into other franchises.

I think that's a great way to go
you can kind of field test some of the characters without totally throwing youself out there.

besides there might be a time where winston is sent to florida to help start a franchise and they run into pirate ghosts or something.. and we get to see the stalwart zeddemore shine.

i mean c'mon its kind of all our little fantasy to be ghostbusters not just act like we're venkman or egon, so wouldn't it be cool to see other people take on the duties?

i have to admit i never have seen EGB and i was a little stand offish cause of the bad press it got, so i never sought it out. I'm still curious, but i think we need more than just Egon to bring in new GBs.

I disagree with the ‘Winston goes off to Florida and sets up a franchise’ idea, a new series, if any, should be based on the originals, no replacements like EGB.

Also, we do play at being Ghostbusters but not being Peter or Egon, that's what the franchises are for.

Not necessarily that the whole series is winston going to florida, but an episode is him going to setup the franchise.

I don't think we should sell ourselves short. There may be other GBs out there that we can dig just as much as the original guys, and they can be added to the canon of the world. I think it would be great to see the UK ghostbusters and how venkmann and tully work with those other franchises.

I'm just saying that there are other story lines that can be worked in using other GBs as vehicles. New characters were added into RGB episodes all the time and some even brought back because we really dug them. Slimer and Sam Hain easily come to mind. (even though the spud got his own show i wasn't too big on)

but i understand wanting to stick with the original guys. They're great, and i couldn't do with out em. They would have to be in most if not all the episodes.

Yeah, I totally agree. Plus, if one franchise they happen to team up with or run into is popular and has a sort of charisma to them, there is a possible spin off. Then we get two ghostbusters cartoons on at the same time, and one is still with the originals.

For example, one episode could have venkman visiting LA and have him found the ghostbusters west coast division, get them set up and go back to his regular duties as a ghostbuster back at NYC.

(sorry for the shameless plug of my own franchise. I just couldnt help it.) :p

While I do agree that a new series about various franchises would be a really cool series, I don't think it would be as cool, or as memorable, as a new series about the 4 originals would be.

Okay, everyone. Kingpin has given me something VERY important to add to my first post in this thread. Here it is:

0.) No intervention via certain shareholders, no matter how famous they are (Murray, Reitman, Medjuck, and Gross, etc.)! Why, you ask? Sometime during the first or second season of RGB, Bill Murray called Michael C. Gross (The Producer.), and told him that he loved RGB, but he asked him why Peter didn't sound like him. So Michael C. Gross, being the genius that he was got Lorenzo Music (A.K.A. “Garfield”.) fired. Then he held auditions to find a voice that sounded more like Bill Murray's. And thus, they found Dave Coulier, A.K.A. “Joey Gladstone”, or as THE BONDO BANDIT called him, “That dumb Full House Guy”. :p After that, Venkman became a stale, boring annoyance that no one liked anymore. Coulier's Venkman wasn’t funny. He was irritating. As Fritz said, he sounded like a really bad Bill Murray impression. He wasn’t very smart, either. He had 30 less I.Q. points than Lorenzo’s Venkman. He didn’t sound a thing like Bill Murray. This is another reason why very few Ghostheads like Murray or Gross. :p And this is a good reason why we don't need any of them ruining things again. I don't care whether their shareholders or not. Let the fans decide what's best and what's not.

Tell me what you think of this, guys. :-)

I agree, roughly 80%. I wouldn't want a “Re-cast Venkman” fiasco again, but I wouldn't mind if Aykroyd had some great ideas he wanted to throw in…

Or Harold Ramis.

I agree. It would be great if Aykroyd and/or Ramis wanted to do some stuff. That's why I didn't mention them in my post above. I only mentioned Murray, Reitman, Medjuck, and Gross. I still cannot believe that Gross actually listened to Murray. Just for that, I don't like Gross anymore. He really is gross. :p

Anyway, on to something else I noticed. I was watching the FOX Box’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003), and I noticed their animation. I really like it. I think it would be PERFECT for this new GB cartoon series. Do you think it's possible that the same animation company for TMNT could/would do the animation for a new GB cartoon? I'd be 100% all for that.
