Greetings all, I'm someone who's been in and out a little bit for several years now, but I've finally got something underway and thought I would finally register and introduce myself. I'm writing what began originally as a fan fiction idea but is becoming longer than the story I originally intended, so I've decided to go all-out on it and see what I can come up with. It's a good thing I came around here especially since the original title I'd picked for it seems to be taken, but soon I will post up part of what I'm writing so that I might receive some criticism.

A little about what I'm writing: I was originally inspired for the general idea while I was going to school in Wichita, KS. Kansas, while being a very flat and generally boring state, has a surprising amount of legendary supernatural sites around the state. I heard a lot of stories while I was living there and it led me to put together the idea of a franchise opening in that town. Part of my original idea was to use main characters based on myself and a few of my friends from school that I thought would work together well in such a team, and I'm continuing with that. I will post up again here soon with a link to some beginnings, and I am looking forward to seeing where things go with this. I've enjoyed checking out everyone's efforts in this forum so far.

If your idea develops well, you might consider checking out the “official” Ghostbusters International site. There are no Kansas franchises on their list, leaving it wide open for you.

Thanks for the links, I will definitely look them over. I can't say I will be creating something that necessarily serves to exist in the same universe as the other fanfics around here, but I especially appreciate the advice about creating characters. I'm trying to avoid spending a lot of time explaining or justifying how I might do stuff differently, but suffice it to say, I think you guys will enjoy this, and I will have something up very soon. Welcome.

Well, I've got a beginning going here, so I thought I would post it up and get some input. I figured the easiest way for me to publish it would be create a blog to post it in, so that's what I've done. Be sure to check out the welcome post at the bottom. As I said, this is a new team in a new city, and it's not an origin story. I will be writing one, but I wanted to write out this idea first since it's fresh now, and also because it helps me get a feel for who the characters really are before I set up how things came to be. This is my first attempt at fiction writing, so please be gentle. I'm heading out of town with my band for a little while, so the next parts will be delayed a bit.
