A possible action figure/toy line based on the new comic?

The thing I dislike about big companies like Toy Biz and Kenner/Hasbro doing franchise based toylines like Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, etc, is they make alot of useless knock off/repaints, package them with a new item, etc, etc, and it becomes really annoying and cheap. Plus they tend to use cheap plastic, and the paint jobs never look NEARLY as good as they do on the prototypes.

Ditto! :-) I couldn't agree more. That's one of the reasons why I wouldn't want any of them to do a new toy line. TAS, you've brought up many great points, and posted some great ideas. Good thinking.

You're not a secret informer from some other toy company, are you?

Palisades doesn't make playsets? I wonder what this thing is then…I have one just like it sitting here on my desk, too.

I meant they dont make playsets for anything outside of Muppets.

Like I said earlier, The Simpons and The Muppets toys usualy end up including everything from the shows.

What I was trying to say is that Palisades would more than likey never make The Firehouse.

The thing is major companies never wanna make anything to scale in terms of playsets, cause its just cheaper to make some hunk of junk thats built to like half scale.

I think Palisades could do the new Ghostbusters good if they do them the way fans want.

Example, me and some of my artist friends could draw up a bunch of concepts, then you could petition Palisades to make the toys/figures based on the concepts.

I just drew up this firehouse concept real quick. Its a work in progress, and I was basicly just planning stuff out.

There would be four floors.

3rd Floor - Basicly where the GBs sleep. There's a ladder leading up to the roof.
2nd Floor - A game room, kitchen and entertainment area. There's things like a pool table, old arcade games, TV, sterio, couch, chairs, refrigirator, counter, etc, etc.
1st Floor - Has a strip for the Ecto to park on. An office area, some changing rooms, and an area with some proton packs and traps.
Basement - Has the containment unit, a lab, and other various things.

A set of stairs would run through all the floors. The firepole would go between the first three floors.

The basement are could detatch from the rest of the firehouse if need to. The basement would be quite big, and is wider than the rest of the building, but on the outside road strips would go around the building to cover the width of the basement, so to not expose the inside.

I hope all this stuff is clear on the pic, even though I havnt drawn all the stuff in yet.

I needed the company who makes the firehouse, could make each floor seperately, and then you could buy them all and put them together.

Im still drawing out other concepts, and then Ill start drawin final versions, that dont look so sketchy or messy.

Kingpin made a set of floorplans of the firehouse. They're very accurate. I can't find them, so hopefully he can set you up with a link.

Or Hasbro :p

If they make teh firehouse like that, each floor should be like detachable..or you stack them altogether to make the fire house….Like the old TMNT playsets ya know, you could hook them together and such.

Okay, here's the deal with playsets…they're great for fans, but really hard on toy companies.

The fact of the matter is, that playsets just don't sell like people think they do. You see, toy companies have what's called an MOQ for each item produced. An MOQ is the volume of product that they have to produce in order to actually make any money on it. It's more complicated than that, but I don't really feel like explaining it. Anyway, the MOQ on a playset is typically pretty high, and sales on playsets are historically not. That's why you always see the really cool exclusives in playsets…they really want you to buy. Companies like Mattel and Hasbro can afford to do a fairly cheap playset, that they can do in a big enough bulk that they get large discounts from the factory, and sell enough of them to break even, while ensuring that they keep product on store shelves so that people remember the brand (told you it was complicated). A company like Palisades, however, needs to sell as many of any playset they make as possible.

If Palisades, or any of the smaller toy companies were to get a Ghostbusters license, they MAY be able to do a Firehouse, but it would depend on the sales of the regular figures as to whether or not they risk it. Ecto's an important enough part of GB that it'd probably get made no matter what, but who knows about the firehouse….
