A question about prop building

I'm just curious, why do people want to build props? (besides for fun, or a basic hobby). Is it for art? To express yourself? Make a movie? I'm just curious, because I'd like to start to get into this. (not just GB props either mind you)

I do it for the fun, and for the looks on peoples faces when they see you with a movie prop that looks “just like the one in the movie”

Its a fun, learning experience that gives you more knowledge. Plus it challenges you on different levels, and when its done the experience is the most rewarding thing ever. Personally I've wanted a proton pack since I was a little kid so finishing this is like a dream come true. For me just having the pack is good enough. smilesmile

My friends and I have been woking on props for our movie. I can still remeber our first attempet at ghostbusters the movie. My proton pack was a big square back pack with a garbage bag taped to it so u wouldnt see the design with a coffe can lid taped on the bottom with black circles on it. Ihad glued on wires for effects. For the other four we used back packs and we tryed to make a slimeblower out of pop bottles and card board but it didnt work. When we found norms plans we finnaly made our own we now have five packs. But ours have a different look. we also made them so it only cost us about 20 dollars.9for wood) everything is made from house hold items. but thats what we make em for.
