A way to bring back User Rankings and not have to worry about abusement posts

Has anyone else been to Gamefaqs? They have a unique way of giving user rankings without getting abusement posts. Instead of getting a point for each post, a user gets a point for being logged in for certain amount of time (days). So once a user has been online for so many days, they get a new user ranking. I think GBN should adopt this method. User rankings will still exist, and the pointless posts won't exist.

yeah but with the new login system cant someone be logged in forever?

that's actually how it is at Gamefaqs. You're constantly logged in unless you log off manually.

maybe…sounds ok. but it's kind of iffy. some might find ways to skyrocket in the rankings.

That's just it; you can't. You get one “karma” a day, and once you get a certain karma amount, you move from New User, to Regular User. It takes 75 days of being logged in, viewing the boards, and having at least one active message (messages are no longer active after about 15 days).

why do people insist on having rank? some one will come along and screw it all up. theres no doubt about it. just get over it.

Man if you really absolutely wanted to have rank, why not just make it based upon how long you've been a registered member?

There you go… I'm spent.

NetSolo, that's how karma works. It's determined how long you're registered and logged in. There's no possible way to cheat. That's the idea, to eliminate cheating.

Why the hell does it matter? Why do you need rankings, you want rankings check this out

No matter how long, or how many posts you make your not a bigger fan then me, and you know what. No matter how long I have been here, or how many posts I have made, I'm not a bigger fan then you. You can be logged in forever, what are you ranking? Your not doing anything that I'm not… makes me sad to know that this is still such an issue for people.

I've found that you're only logged on this site while you're active and not just sitting there; you leave the site, it logs you off (well, on this hunk-o-plastic anyway)
