About Bill Murray.

Is it me, or anytime I see that video of the demo, does it sound like Bill was bored? I know he's usually hectic to reprise previous roles, if I assume correct.

I kind of hope I could get a response from someone who has worked on the game.

Does he get into the role pretty well in this game, or was this early work and some dialouge was re-recorded?

The problem isn't with Bill, it is the fact that, none of the actors had any sort of visual refference of the game, all they had were their scrpts, and their imaginations. Plus! I think that if they would have been able to do the VOs together, it would have sounded a lot different. (*peter)

I find most recently his voice usually always sounds kind of bored. More or less the same when he did the voices for Garfield.

I didn't work on the game but I can tell you that the demo I played at NYCC had a couple of pieces of dialogue from Murray and they sounded great. To be honest I don't see anything wrong with any of his dialogue, the demo bit he may have sounded kind of “bored” on purpose because he was teaching the rook something he'd done so many times. I also spoke to one of the Atari reps at the convention and he said that Murray was very charismatic in his performance. Also Glenn Gamble, another person who worked on the game, said that Murray delivers his lines perfectly.

Yeah I agree that it seems like when he sounds bored it's because his character is supposed to be bored. Ghostbusting was his least favorite part of the business after all.

I've already mentioned everything I can about Bill Murray and his VO of Peter Venkman. Venkman was always “bored” when it came to ghost busting and such.

Even in GB one when he says “Somebody blows their nose and you want to keep it?” he sounds bored their too. Thing about Venkman, as I have said, he is more a “you do the work, I'll take the fame” kind of personality.“

Which I believe is fine to the other GB as they kind of hate all that attention and rather be more excited about the science part.

This makes me wonder though, what do you guys think of the other voice overs of say Dan Aykroyd or Harold Ramis or Ernie Hudson? Everyone is so concerned about Bill's character that they are neglecting everyone else. Funny though, this is exactly what Bill didn't want.

Venkman in the game is not so much bored as he is cocky. He has done this already too many times so he is cocky about his work. Although I do like that he isn't so…selfish in terms of fame now. ”Thanks to me and my new exclusively assigned recruit here…"

All I have to go off is that one tutorial scene. Yeah, something about that particular scene just stuck me as “off” in the performance. I need to look at it again. It's either the voice work in that scene, or maybe some visual mannerism isn't quite right. I think I'm just being picky as I do like Bill Murray's work.

But people are saying he's spot on in other parts, so I'm not going to let 5 minutes of gameplay finalize my perception of the overall work.

I'd love to hear more scenes of the other guys talk more, though.

The only one who could tell you that is Skanker as other then the trailer, we haven't heard anything from Dan, Harold or Ernie when it comes to voice over.

We've heard more from the other three than we have from Murray. The San Diego Comic Con demo was the library level and in various videos you could hear bits of dialogue from Ramis, Aykroyd, and Hudson.
As for my impression of them I think they all sound great. Ramis is deadpan but if you listen to him in the movies he sounds the exact same. There are few instances in the movies where he shows real emotion and we haven't seen any examples of that kind of scene from the game yet. Plus if you were to look at the Games Radar clip there was a part when the book golem appeared that Ramis screamed something (I couldn't quite make it out because it was at the same time that Aykroyd was yelling something) and it had plenty of emotion.
Aykroyd is great as Ray, every instance where I have heard his VO it is fantastic, so enthusiastic and in character. After the lion statue explodes he screams “woah double full torso animators!” and when he sees the ghost of Eleanor Twitty he screams out “Yes, yes it is her!” These are a few examples of his very enthusiastic voice work.
Ernie Hudson sounds fine as Winston, he really only has to sound like himself because Winston is pretty much a normal guy. One good example of his VO is when Egon tells him to check the next room (this is still from the library) he says “Leave a haunted room? I've got no problem with that” He brings out the “if there's a steady paycheck in it I'll believe anything you say” attitude perfectly in the way that he delivers that line.
So IMO they all sound great and in character. I think people have been talking about Murray more because we have heard less from him. But I mean look at the line in the new trailer that revealed Alyssa Milano as the female lead, when Peter is about to kiss Ilyssa the other guys come in and he says “why don't you all go away?” That sounded great, so in short let's wait until we see the dialogue in context to pass judgment and for my money its perfect.
