About the game...I wonder...

1. What will Janine be/act like? Bookish like in the first film, or all “stylish” with that bob hair-do as she was last seen in the second film.

2. Will Peck still have his beard?

3. Are the traps remotely activated? We haven't seen any pedals or wires for them.

4. Will Dana be mentioned to provide closure regarding her relationship with Venkman?

In time we'll find out…I just can't help wondering!

Agreed

When I watched GB2 at the premier in 1989, I didn´t recognized Annie Potts, I thought they had changed the actress.

please, please, please danny, harold and sierra - i'm begging you, just have Dana be away on tour with Oscar and make the love interest there for the playable character. Please. Otherwise you basically make Venkman a loser AND slightly creepy. Pleeeease. What worked in RGB is jarring as a continuation of the movie storyline - look at Annie Potts in GB2!

How would that make Peter seem like a slightly creepy loser? Things don't always work out in relationships, whether there's a kid involved or not and if they weren't in a relationship anymore, we don't know the circumstances involved. Could be either of their faults for the relationship ending.

I do agree on the love interest should be the for the player character though, though it seems more and more like we're just going to be some generic character that really isn't needed.

As for Janine, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a mixture of the 2, what with the changing of the times. Sure its only 2 years, the difference still is the 80s vs the 90s.

It makes Venkman look like a loser as in "Wow. With a second chance of a sort a lot of people would kill to get, he blew it again."

And yes, Powers That Be, please please please stick closer to the first movie for Janine. Having her fans hate you for nineteen years should be more than long enough. :-)

exactly. Also both films are basically about the redemption of Venkman. it is the plot point which kind of drives both, the busting itself being incidental in a way.

The movie Venkman stops his womanising ways and actually saves the world for this woman, losing her once is understandable - it makes sense when put against his flippant nature, the very nature which has led to nothing more than presenting cable TV in the period between movies - to do it twice negates the character development. it ISN'T real life, it's a story, the character arc exists for a purpose - to throw it out the window simply because Sigourney Weaver isn't available for voice over seems ludicrous.
We get that aspect of his character, I'm not sure it needs warming over again and i think it has the potential to cheapen the storylines of GB1 and 2. He's redeemed already!

Man, who'd be a film student?! we're even more annoying at parties!

The only thing I wonder is what will happen AFTER the game comes out. I don't wanna see the game as the only big new gb product and see the title fall asleep again… I want a movie!!!

That all depends on the circumstances. I wouldn't want to say someone is a loser because they blew a second chance when it might not have been their fault at all. Besides, we don't exactly know in what way he's interested in the new female lead, if he really is at all. Just seems like some people aren't giving Venkman a chance and already assuming he reverted back to his old ways.

Besides, Dan and Harold are handling the script, I think they know where they want to go and how to make things work.

please please please stick closer to the first movie for Janine. Having her fans hate you for nineteen years should be more than long enough.

I just hope they don't overlook Ghostbusters 2's characterizations. I'd rather have a compromise between the 2 movies and get a blend of them than just to favor one movie or the other.

All i'm saying is that they established a very basic character arc:

GB1 is about forming and redeeming past character traits (the guys ineptness as professors vs. their success as ghostbusters / peter's womanising vs. his making an effort for dana)

GB2 is pretty much the same, only about reforming this time (the guys / peter & dana)

there really isn't any need to delve into Venkman's love life again as - since the company hasn't gone into liquidation since GB2 - it isn't needed as a parallel sub-plot.

that's my only beef, really - just that it interrupts an arc to have Venkman become the smarmy ladies man again. I would understand it if it was by different writers, but I'm hoping Dan and Harold are hip enough to work around it. ALSO every version of Venkman (GB2 aside) since The Real Ghostbusters came out has been more based on that version than the movie version - just think of ‘Legion’ for example. Since this is Dan and Harold, I'd like them to continue their main character, rather than simply rehash him in the RGB vein*.

*don't get me wrong, i love the RGB versions of the characters, they just aren't quite Dan and Harold's versions, y'know?
