“The rumor that Ghostbusters is canned is causing quite a stir tonight. I have been contacted by a Vivendi/Sierra tester that wishes to remain anonymous, but they have confirmed that the game has not been canned. I have posted an edited bit from the email below. I have plenty of faith in this person, for reasons I cannot list.

I work for Vivendi/Sierra games and we test games. …Right now I am currently testing Ghostbusters for the Wii, I also see other people testing for 360/ps3 and the DS version, matter of fact the DS version is almost done.

There is more to the email, but once again, I cannot post in-order to keep the person’s identity a secret. You’ll just have to take my word that this is on the up-and-up.”

I just hope this isn't the first that the teams hear something about this, and tomorrow they walk into work to find that it's true or some garbage like that.

Otherwise, shame on Games Industry Biz for posting a RUMOR as fact.

Man, I would've been depressed if this game got canned.

Oh, I hope he's right, I hope to God that none of the games got canned. Rumors like this are made of suck, and heart attacks, this kinda thing gives us heart attacks.

The guy who runs this site is a pretty decent guy, from everything he's posted. I appreciate the fact that he did some Scooby sleuthing to find out some more on what's going on with the games.

I love those people who say “meh, couldn't care less.” Yeah, they'd care if it was something they wanted to play, assholes.

Anyways, hopefully this doesn't get canceled, it would be a huge ass mistake on Activision's part, probably one, if not the biggest if that ever came to pass.

Yeah, I commented on some of that (I'm “thedreadpirateguy” on there).

Do they not get how big this is? Fans waited for 10 years on a sequel we knew would never get made, but still kept praying that somehow it would.

It's written by the actual writers, and voiced by the actual actors (including Bill Murray, which is nothing short of a miracle). They even have unused music from the first film by the same composer.

Anyone who doesn't get how “big” this is simply isn't a fan, or has no sense of ‘80’s nostalgia. I'll go even farther in saying that they didn't have as fun a childhood, because this was one of my favorite memories, hands down.

Keep in mind that Activision did not specifically say Ghostbusters was being canned in the Press Release. But a few sites did take it that way.. and posted it as such.

Sony did say that the Game and Blu-Ray were being postponed though. So we will see.. atleast we have those DVD's and the IDW comic coming out soon.

for sure , but it's a good thing we have the petition anyway to show our resolve. the minute we got wind of the news we responded. thats what counts. I don't see why it would be postponed . It looks like it could ship today from what I played.

I agree, I don't know why Sony would want to postpone the game, it looks good, but maybe thats just me, and yeah, but if they ax the game, oh boy, will there be even more responses, and they'll probably be ugly.

They better not (unless they do something that makes it even more fantastic).

People forget delays on a good game. A bad game lasts forever.
