i just got effects and does any one know how to make proton beams with it because i have no clue

Basically it's the same way as this lightsaber tutorial, only need some movement, put in a lens flare and draw some lightning.

I don't think there's an easy Proton Stream video tutorial somewhere available on the net.
I suggest you try first step by step this video tutorial and make a lightsaber first.
After you know how it goes you could try out a Proton Beam.

by the way thats is a tutorial for photoshop not for after effects notto be rude though but what i mean is that people who made fan films of ghostbusters must of did proton streams

Braxtan put his footage through Ulead Media Painter. He explained it to me via email and produced a pretty good effect. Not perfect, but something to work on.

No one else has released a GB fan film to explain how to do it yet.

For the tutorial sake, output your footage as a filmstrip and do it frame by frame. It's not too hard, but takes a lot of time.
