Its just very ironic, Seth talks about bad scripts, and I'm quite happy Seth Rogan doesnt want to be in it, frankly, all the new “comic” actors blow. Steve Carell, Seth Rogan, etc. all of them, they're not funny, they have no real style to their acting or comic delivery (or lack of for that matter) or any depth to the personality of their characters, its just bland obnoxious humor that amuses 14 year old kids.

Devil's advocate, but i take it you haven't seen Carell in Little Miss Sunshine?
not the greatest film ever, but his performance is brilliant.

He was also genuinely funny in Get Smart, and he wasn't bad back in his days on the Daily Show.

Not that I'm advocating a new team, but he's definately not as bad as some people make him out to be.

I was making an example, of the type of comedy range, people have now. and Im not trying to bash peoples taste. BUT, i wouldnt call them comedic geniuses, the whole cast of GBs (with the exception of Ernie and few others, ofcourse) were all well achieved in originality in their comedy, which made them so fun to watch. Im a very hard to impress kinda guy, unless an artist/actor/comedian etc. has done something very unique and original on their own, i give them respect and credit. In my opinion, (and im not trying to cut anyone down who are fans ) Rogan, Apatow and co, havent really done it for me, they just come off as average writer/actors to me, that's alll.

How about John Goodman and James Belushi? I guess they are not exactly new in the game, but I think there comedy style fits well with the others.

That kind of defeats the purpose though. If new guys are gonna be added they should be young so they could potentially carry on with the franchise. Adding guys who are also in their late 50's or early 60's does nothing. That just risks messing up the group dynamic for no reason, whereas new young guys could carry on.

Yeah I always thought Michael Keaton would be an awesome addition, but he would fall into that same category.

I think if the film does happen and there does end up being a new team AND it is the Rogen/Carell/whoever lot, then it is worth bearing in mind how broad the performances of the original team were before Ghostbusters before damning this potential new team on their own past movies.

Honestly, Caddyshack, Stripes and Trading Places could all easily have come from the same minds as Superbad etc. Just because Ghostbusters veers slightly more towards the subtle and really cemented the leads styles on film, doesn't mean that they were ready formed that way. It could work just the same with this suggested new lot.

But yeah, devil's advocate there, I'm one of the few who wouldn't really mind if there were no new live action film, but i'm totally willing to be open minded about whatever happens.

Good find. “Very much a possibility.” It certainly is encouraging even though there's no new info at the moment. I know the writing of the script can take a while. I think it's great it's staying in the public light though.
