Is there any other substitute frame for cheaper that could be used?

You could try constructing a makeshift frame from PVC piping or some other tubing, but I've heard it isnt very comfortable. Using the real frame is best although it may be expensive depending on where you buy your frame. wink

how much are you looking to spend here?? i havean alice pack frame that has no shoulder straps…has a kindey pad though..that id be willing to sell…you can contact me at ufocaptspence@aol.com if your interested smile

I would reccomend just using a real pack frame, I know it can get costy, but its worth it. I've made one before without it, and I get really tired of wearing it, very soon, yet my new one wiht the alice pack frame I can stand to wear A LOT longer.

you can make the frame out of PVC, then get insulator foam coverings, and put them on. itll work.
