Hello,
It occurs to me alot of you don't have a clue in the world about the interviews Sebastian gave in the chat room. I however was present for most if not all of the interviews now i'll give you a few facts about the comic straight from Sebastian Clavet (of 88mph Studios). If a moderator find some errors in this list please edit it to the correct info.

1. The comics will follow after the first movie in continuity.

2. The Equipment, Firehouse, Ecto-1 and everything else will be modeled after the first movie. That means no GB2 weapons, No Ecto-1A, No giga meter.

3. The comic's timeline will take place in present time. That means 2003 folks.

4. Slimer will not be a loveable little freak for the kids. Slimer will be modeled after the way he was in the original Ghostbusters movie. Whether he will be called Slimer or Onionhead is still being debated.

5. The guys will also smoke cigarettes, use mild profanity, and be generally like the were in the original Ghostbusters. Egon will be straight edged and will only eat twinkies.

Thats all that I know for sure. I don't want to post anything else that I don't know for sure so as not to misinform you.

Do youn think we can also look forward to Miller Time and a Venkman who always tries to score with the ladies?

Yes, Sebastian stressed that he wants the comic to hold true to the first movie. So no kiddy stuff. They will smoke and drink, except for Egon.

So yeah Venkman should be his old self again.

Sounds like solid info, and not surprising, as a lot of comics are at that level of maturity these days. That old COmics Code shit is dead.I'm not sure if even DC carries it anymore.
Heh, you should see the latest ThunderCats comic, Lion-O actually snaps a few necks in it, and there's some infered sexual abuse. It all makes sense in context.

Anyways thanks for giving some clear, reliable info.

I don't think that the Ghostbusters should smoke.

It was a mistake to have the Ghostbusters smoke in the first movie. In the 19 years since, standards regarding smoking have changed – while it might have been done originally to show how “normal” the GBs were, now fewer people smoke in the US – it has largely lost its edge of normalcy.

Moreover, there is no reason to have the GBs smoke. It is not an important character trait, and it does not effect the plot (at least of the movies…).

The Ghostbusters AREN'T the Ghostbusters if they don't smoke. I don't care how friggin' politically correct you want to be it just doesn't work.

Ya see this is the reason good stuff gets ruined man. They stop worrying about how to make a good comic that fans love and start worrying about how to make it so it won't offend over-sensitive protest at the drop of a hat politically correct douche bags whose only motivation in life it complain about things they deem morally deplorable.

I'd disagree, the Ghostbusters are the Ghostbusters regardless of whether they smoke or not. That's why RGB worked (and why they didn't call it The Smoking Ghostbusters. Or The Smoke-free Ghostbusters for that matter).

“The Ghostbusters AREN'T the Ghostbusters if they don't smoke.”

You're kidding, right? Smoking does not define a character. As a matter of fact, I can only think of ONE character from a movie that would be weird if he weren't smoking all the time…Silent Freaking Bob. Everyone else is negotiable. Whether or not they smoke should be a non-issue…unless they're planning on doing whole stories about it, that is.

Personally, I always thought Ghostbusters was about busting ghosts, not whether or not they smoked Camels or…heh…Winstons. Besides, I always thought the reason they smoked in the movie was because they all really DID. If you can write off cigarettes to production cost, why wouldn't you? If they're smokers, then they're smokers…but aren't there better things to demand from the people that are working very hard to bring us a product that we'll enjoy?
