Anybody make their own Audiobooks as a hobby?

I do and I enjoy doing it. I'm really good at reading outloud. So far I've done all the Fudge books by Judy Blume, The Howling 1 and 2 by Gary Brandner, Matthew, and First Blood by David Morrell. I enjoy doing it and plus there's some out of print books that never got put on audio like The Howling series that I mentioned. I do it with the program Audacity. I have headphones that double as a microphone. Right now I am working on the book of Acts, Spider-Man the Venom Factor, Spider-Man The Octopus Agenda, and The lovely bones. I probably will get a drop box so people I know can download them and listen to them. I know some of you probably think this is a weird hobby but I like to do it.

First Blood has been done officially as an audiobook though. It's was about 8 hours long.

It wasn't at the time I made it. Besides, I don't really like the way the guy that reads the Book on cd sounds. For instance, the way the guy reads is like this, “I won't be ******* shoved anymore.” The way I read it outloud is, “I won't be ******** shoved anymore!!!!”

There's actually like two versions of it on audiobook, one was on cassette and read by someone else. Obviously you'd be more opinionated about your work though, but we can't really judge “who reads it better” without hearing. The guy does try to make distinctions in the voice characters though (like most do).

Yeah. I had bought an old cassette version of the book and couldn't listen to the second side of the first tape cause the tape was so worn out. But I admit I saw the First Blood Audiobook on cd at amazon and it was only $12 plus shipping. Not bad considering how much other Audiobooks cost.
