I guess I'm kinda surprised, and yeah this may sound a little wrong but…, I'm surprised we haven't seen a leaked copy of the demo on the internet. With all of the discs that were sent out right as Activision was pulling the plug, you would almost expect someone to leak it.

Hence me asking what you were talking about.

And again, if the game sells more copies because they hold off until June, that bodes well for us, and gives us more chance at more new Ghostbusters stuff. Given the two options would you rather:

1) Get it now, and have it not sell as well as Sony wants it to, so they don't make more.

2) Get it in June, it sells as well as Sony wants, and they make more games.

Or it could backfire and they sell less copies due to the delay and Sony doesn't have Terminal Reality make another game.

I guess I'm kinda surprised, and yeah this may sound a little wrong but…, I'm surprised we haven't seen a leaked copy of the demo on the internet. With all of the discs that were sent out right as Activision was pulling the plug, you would almost expect someone to leak it.

Someone mentioned that on Kotaku, and they said that those disk that did get out require a special activation deal to work anyways.

I don't really care when the game comes out as long as its good. I know it's coming out eventually so I don't mind waiting at all. I've been waiting 24 years for a game such as this this so another year or so makes no difference to me. Anyway, the longer the wait the more time the developers have to work on it which means that when it eventually does come out the game should be even better.

Each copy of the demo sent out for early reviews was apparently given a revier-specific watermark, so that the company could keep track of who leaked their disc if bootleg copies began appearing on the internet… it's for that very reason, the fear of being sued, or at least loosing future business with the publisher that has kept people from making duplicates and putting them online.

Well, i for one disagree with sony thinking they are going to sell more copies of the game if they wait till june for some reason. to me thats just stupid thinking because, video games arent like movies in the way that only the big movies open in the summer or holiday season and thus make the most money.

Grand theft auto 4, sold billions of dollars worth in its first night, and it launched Late April. Yes, alot of game companies wait till the fall to launch there flagship titles, but thats because of the holiday season! Most video games, sell due to the strength of the title, and how much promotion it gets. Alot of summer films are big, simply due to the fact its summer, and alot of people are off and the kids are out of school! Same deal with the holiday films.

Games, all depends on the game itself, and promotion. Halo 3 last year, sold alot in September-October (i dont remember exactley when but i was there for the midnight launch)

Waiting till june is just stupid, if indeed thats sony's plan. Hell, next year, one of sonys flagship Playstation 3 titles, “Kill Zone 2” launches in feb!

Idk, maby there thinking, its a game based off a movie, treat it like a movie, but i think that might hurt them in the long run. See, as a gamer, i know, ALOT of movie based games suck, because there rushed out into production just to make a quick buck and tie in with there films counterpart. Also, lets face facts. ALOT of people, dont bother reading online reviews…and 60 bucks, is alot of money for a new game. Just because u pay 60 bucks, dont mean your going to get a quality gaming experence. Are people going to take a risk throwing away 60 bucks for ghostbusters based on that name alone, esp in June when theres so much other media out there, newer media…to take chances on?

For example…IRON MAN, FANTASTIC FOUR, TRANSFORMERS, etc… all movie games, launched in the summer around the time of there counterpart films, all sold meh, all were hated due to poor gameplay and rushed productions.

Gamers, are picky. A movie based game like ghostbusters, launching in June, might put off some gamers simply due to the time its being launched.

However, were the game to launch around the holiday season like planed, or shortly after in the winter months, where there isnt much quality media around anyhow, game or film wise, i think it would stand a much better chance of being profitable.

But now, with the possability of a ghostbusters 3, who knows?

We got to also look at some new factors as well. Is the game now going to serve as a BRIDGE THE GAP type deal between 2 and the next movie IF it gets made?

lets say, best case senero, GB3 Script is complete by the end of the year, goes out, the boys like it, sony likes it, it gets greenlit for a Summer 2010 opening. Does the game, which at this point, is almost IF not completly done, follow the same storyline? Hell, the game itself, made bill murry eager to play venkman again….and from what i read about him, hes VERY picky when it comes to scrips and projects. He could have easly sat out the game, but he must of liked some aspect about the project enough to do it, AND state he would love to do another Ghostbusters, script depending…

So, will the new script writers take into account the games storyline? will it view that as cannon? We all know THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS and EXTREME GHOSTBUSTERS, are SPIN offs of the FILM, but dont nessessary share the same cannon.

Now, how do you market and view this game? SPINOFF, with the origional cast? OFFICAL CANNON?

Even so, how do u make a sequel to the GAME thats still a prequel to the 3TH movie (IF made?) We all know that the new movie IF made, MUST take place in modern times. It cant be set back in the 80's. So, how do u bridge that gap between 1989-2009-2010?

Has this game, or WILL it, take on the form of somthing like say…THE FORCE UNLEASHED, which is offical star wars cannon, that takes place between Revenge of the sith, and A new Hope!

these are some instering questions….dont u guys agree?

Okay, look. It's not so much a question of “selling more copies”. The game will sell well if gamers know they have a quality game on their hands. The game has been delayed so that everything can be ironed out, especially the fact that the game probably has more than a few bugs in it as it stands, and the developers/publishers are no doubt working 16-hour shifts to make sure that it has no bugs or other obvious flaws that would detract from sales.

Rush-released video games are never good. Need I remind you of Atari's E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial?

And, to be honest, I don't think Sony has much stake in this game, because, if my memory serves me correctly, Universal's the one who has the game license.

Lots of text that doesn't need to be copied.

The point you continue to make though is that summer game sales are bad, but you also point out that summer games aren't good games and are rushed. Since that is not happening, and since video gamers are often looking for a great new game in the summer, Ghostbusters stands to benefit from the summer sales. It is not a movie tie-in in the classic sense. There is not a Ghostbusters movie coming out this summer that will be cross promoted with the game. The game is a stand alone on its own video game. Also, having done a little research, supposedly this summer offered up some great video games that will most likely make the Best Games of the Year list (source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26551309/).

As for the canon… my guess is that this game will remain canon. Its been referred to as basically being Ghostbusters III, but now with that movie potentially happening, this would serve more as a Ghostbusters IIi (2.5). Being that the game takes place in 1991, and the movie would take place in present day, it shouldn't be that big of a problem. The new recruit in the game wouldn't necessarily have to be in the new movie, and could easily be written out, or just assumed to have been one of a number of new recruits that the team has tried out over the years, since they will likely be adding new team members in the new movie. I don't think its anything to worry about, I'd say its a near certainty that the game will be considered canon with the movies.

Um, that's not why it got delayed. The fact they have the time to do more ironing and bug removal is a benefit but as it was made clear, the game was delayed when Activision let it go after their takeover, and any further delay is because Sony was considering tying it into the 25th Anniversary next year.

How'd you come to the conclusion Ghostbusters would be a rush-release? They've been working on it since 2006 and reports were that everything was on schedule until Activision came along.

I'm pretty sure they have a big stake, they have final say so they could easily kill it if it's not to their liking.

bigpal, it's ‘3rd’ not ‘3th’.

well, to completly behonest with ya, i dont feel like wating 8 more months for somthing i should have been playing within 2 weeks! Thats whats really driving me insane. I can deal with even a march delay, but the end of friggen june? ARE U KIDDING ME?

goes back to my whole point of this post. WHY THE HELL HAVENT WE GOTTEN A SINGLE WORD ON WHEN WE CAN PLAY IT! ITS DONE! The game has to be friggen done by now, they had 2 YEARS to work on it, like i said before, if u went to terminal studios i promess u, you could play the completed game! BUT NO I HAVE TO WAIT 8 months, as it stands now, for no reason what so ever?

and dont give me this crap about sales, or 25th year or what ever. Its ghostbusters. people will buy it based on the name alone!

im just trying to figure out there logic, and its not making any sense to me at all. ATLEAST tell us when we can play the dam game? We allready are spending our hard earned cash on it WHEN EVER it comes out! at least you could do is give us some SOLID INFO on WHEN !

Um, no? Its pretty much what Kingpin said, the game was delayed thanks to Activision deciding to be douches and dropping the game as publisher in favor of three dead franchises.

How'd you come to the conclusion Ghostbusters would be a rush-release? They've been working on it since 2006 and reports were that everything was on schedule until Activision came along.

This. Ghostbusters: The Video Game was no rush job, plain and simple. If it was, they would not have taken the time to get the main cast and three supporting actors and to do all the work that looks to be done on the game.

And, to be honest, I don't think Sony has much stake in this game, because, if my memory serves me correctly, Universal's the one who has the game license.

Given the fact that Sony actually holds the Ghostbusters property, I'd have to say that their stake is pretty high.
