Ah! Guess I did (I was surfing up late)

But man… what a way to introduce yourself back into the world of gaming!

Video games are just like riding a bike, if you've done it before, you can do it again.

If anything, the new games out today are way easier than older generations (Has anyone gone back to play old school NES and Sega games? Damn they're hard!)

Oh well, sucks to be your position Ghoulish. I really do feel your pain, but I have to say that I believe you are in the minority on this topic?

Ghoulish, just a question:

Why not simply HIRE an 360 system and the game when it comes out? Hire it for a few days or a week. Enjoy it, live it, finish it. Return when done?

What do you mean by HIRE exactly? Is this an Aussie thing? …Do you mean "RENT" it??? As in, from a video rental place? Do they do that with game systems??? …..If I could rent an X-Box 360 somehow (and the game) that would be perfect. Do they do that though? Where at, if so?

You probably missed the part where he said he sucks at video games.

Dude, where did I say that? I never said that. I used to be a pro at Super Mario 1 & 3, Tomb Raider games, Castlevania, Legacy of Kain, etc. I just don't fancy modern games, and am too poor and busy anyhow. I would gladly sink my fangs into the new Ghostbusters game; the problem shall be getting ahold of it.

Granted I don't know if they still do - but Blockbuster used to rent out consoles. You could get a console and several games for a flat rate. The only down-side (besides having to return it) is that they required a refundable deposit for most of the price of the game system. So, even though you would get that money back, you have to show you could cover the cost in case you did decide to just keep it.

Other than that, I can't think of any place that will rent a system.

There is a bar here in Waco though that has a Wii. You can “rent” the system there at the bar for a period of hours, as you would a pool table. That would be more expensive than going through Blockbuster or the like, but still a possibility for those that don't own the system.

Yes, you can rent a system and a game from most rental places.

Fancier than Super Mario Bros? Ye gods!

I still get Nes, Snes, GB, and Genesis off eBay for that reason, they're cheap and frequently hard as hell to beat. 64 and up I can usually beat them on a 3 day rental.

Must be an Aussie thing :p, Yes HIRE = RENT, (ie. Although the usual expression in the movies is Ghostbusters for Hire, not for rent?)

Try a few DVD rental places in your area, the ones that hire out games would most likely hire out the systems too.

I think you hire someone and you rent something but I'm not sure x)

You're quite correct.

You CAN rent a person, but that's a WHOLE different area which is really not something we should get into.

If I can add, it's a British thing as well. :p

Ta keep it real is the kids say, There are a few “stripped” down versions of each console floating around such as the 360 core and arcade systems. If anything just wait for the msrp on the systems to drop. 360 and Ps3 have both seen price drops since the releases and its not going to go back up lol. 20 years is a long time and I know coz I have been here the whole time waiting too….but if it came down to it you could wait. Just to clearify it is very big in japan for DVD compilations of game footage to be released, normaly they are rpgs of the epic porportions such final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior and so on so you might see an import dvd or maybe even bootlegs but trust me when i tell you there are plenty of people who are going to buy therselves systems just for this game. Fall 08 is still a ways away GO MAKE SOME MONEY or just wait for christmas. sheesh we get something new and thats this BIG and I have to read 5 pages of my fellow ghostheads trying to argue the point on why this is huge and gifthorses should not be looked in the mouth. Games on the way guys and Id be willing to put MY 360 up on the fact that other merch is sure to follow.
