Well after talking to Dan it sounds like he REALLY wants this to work out. It's so cool cause he knows what a cult following this movie has and his heart is really in it!

Not sure yet they will go for a realistic look like Final Fantasy.
Look at the box office.
Movies like Shrek, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles,… still have more a cartoonish realistic look and there cheaper to make and score better in the box office:

SHREK 2: Production Budget: $70 million Worldwide: $920,665,658
FINDING NEMO: Production Budget: $94 million Worldwide: $864,625,978
THE INCREDIBLES: Production Budget: $92 million Worldwide: $631,436,092

Movies like The Polar Express and Final Fantasy have a more realistic look but cost a lot more and score less in the box office:

THE POLAR EXPRESS: Production Budget: $165 million Worldwide: $300,716,677
FINAL FANTASY THE SPIRITS WITHIN: Production Budget: $137 million Worldwide: $85,131,830

So, until we see the first screenshots of the movie we'll know which way there gonna go.

I don't think Danny plays games and probably doesn't know an awful lot about them. I could be wrong though about that but I think his influence should be in apparent in the production of this game when it comes to not only the voice acting and motion capturing but the storyline and especially the character dialogue.

He could help write the game.

But him and Ramis have got to write the new movie together.

I swear some people here and on GBHQ are forgetting Ghostbusters is a comedy. Photo-realism is NOT a necessity; a little bit of stylization is appropriate and, let's face it, probably necessary. We all know about Murray's problems with letting people use his face, so if this movie is made Venkman is probably NOT going to look exactly like Bill Murray.

I don't think much of anything is set in stone yet. Aykroyd, according to Zedd, indicated they may base the likenesses on RGB. They may not in the end. Who knows? It wouldn't be indefensible: it removes any Bill Murray likeness issues, and are certainly still recognized by a great many people who grew up watching the cartoons.

Again, there is nothing to indicate that this is anything but very early in the process. What we “know” today could be completely different tomorrow.

I mean, after all, last week GB3 was deader than Gerald Ford.

True. I don't think we should get this excited until we have more confirmation.

But I do not want this movie looking like Jimmy Neutron CG. Where everyone has a super big head and small skinny limbs even the fat people.

I also think it's completely ridiculous that Murray would lend his voice to Busters but not his face. It's ok to hear his voice but we just can't see his face? WTF?!?

I really don't care whether its CGI, animated or damn shadow puppets made from potatoes, I want to see a Ghostbusters III! After seeing Final Fantasy Advent Children and even the clip of zootfly ghostbusters, Im sure they can do an amazing job on the movie. Even if it looks like shit, its still Ghostbusters. Im sick of seeing other “movies” getting sequels and ghostbuters not getting its due.

I think that it is necessary that this movie has a realistic look to it rather than a cartoon look. A more realistic look will fit in far better with its live action predecessors than a cartoon look. I also think that it is important for Ghostbusters to actually have a scary side to it. The scene in the New York Public library? The scene where the hands grab Dana from the couch? etc etc I just don't think the scares which are so important in Ghostbusters can be acheived if the film is given a cartoon look.
