Great Scott! That little orange dome on there exactly matches the description of something I need for the Dematerializer!

What is it called?

I'm not sure. It's also on the Lost In Space pistol. The builder is a huge fan of Lost In Space. The bracing on the back of the dish is also inspired by some set pieces.

Maybe the mad scientists at Proptopia might have a few answers for me.

May I borrow that pic for a while?

If you're meaning the closeup of our dish sure. Your best bet is Cyland Props over there.

Thanks. We got alot of flak at first for not having the exact model but it really came together to be it's own Ecto which was our plan. Heck alot of people ask if it's the real car which we consider to be a complement.

I just realized I've been neglecting this thread again. Here's some progress pics of the car and at several events over the last couple of months. We have most recently just mounted the storage tubes, ladder, dish, and sniffer.

That parade footage is really sweet. And I just have to say, with all sincerity, your guys' ectomobile is probably the coolest non-'59 caddy ecto there is. That model is just gorgeous, and totally captures the original spirit IMO. I could easily imagine that version being in the films, or being a replacement in a sequel or something if the caddy got destroyed. I just love the boxy retro look.

Also, it looks like you're mostly going for a GB1 look, but have you ever considered adding some of those LED “for hire” signs, ala GB2, to the sides? The reason I ask is ‘cause it looks like the body’s roof is perfectly shaped for it - you've got that narrow band of negative space (save for the sidelights) on each side. Then again maybe negative space is good, but you definitely do have some empty space there, especially at the reer, to add some extra flourishes. Maybe a “call 555-____” decal or somethin'.

But yeah, that baby is hardcore eye candy.
