no big mac, i did nothing to the model!
like i said, its all a matter of the material!
every material must be worked over manual to look as good as in vice city!
i didnt change the values of each material, so i think the same values have an other effect from game to game!
the textures are as good as in vc from what i can see now!
do u have gta sa?
if so i can sent it over to u!

Gee wiz, I feel terrible about this whole thing. By now some of you probably think I've given up on this project or I've died.

But no, I'm still very much alive and certainly not about to give up. I had a long semester with no time to work on the ECTO-1, and before the semester ended my computer crapped up so a bunch of work was done to it and everything needs to be reinstalled.

Life can be brutal.

I'm using the pictures from the finished ECTO-1 restoration project at gbfans.com for the roof rack. Though I just noticed that the parts that mount the front and rear light bars on the car are the same in the movie, but different on the ECTO-1 restoration project.

In this photo it's easy to see how the front light bar is attached to the roof.

In this photo it's easy to tell that the light bar mounts are the same type for both the front and rear light bars.

And if you look at these photos of the finished restoration project you'll see that the front and rear light bar mounts are different.

The difference can also be seen in this photo of the finished car.

I'm not sure which I should follow. I'm currently making the rear light bar mounts now, but they're so complicating that it would be easier to just follow the reference photos at gbfans.com. Making a copy of the rear light bar mounts and trying to fit them into the correct position on the front would be very difficult.

The different mount came to be because some time between 1989 and the early 2000s, the front lightbar vanished from Ecto-1. When the car was given the first, cheap restoration, a new bar was sourced, with inaccurate mounts.

I'd prefer the model be film accurate, but that's me.

i also noticed from the bueray video docu that the front lightbar has double reflectors around the inner lightbulbs and the bottom isnt chrome! its black! the rar lightbar is movieAcurate!

I know, I KNOW! I've had a hell of a time of things, too. I ended up needing all of my winter break just to recuperate from the semester.

Aww crap… the bars are different… the rear bar is movie accurate.

The best close up photos on gbfans.com were mainly of the front light bar and both bars looked identical. I noticed that the center chrome part on the front light bar looked wider than the one on the rear bar, but wasn't sure if I was mistakenly seeing a difference do to the camera angles. The bar I made will need to be heavily modified for it to match the rear bar, the movie accurate bar.

As for the light bar mounts, I'll go the extra distance to make the front mounts the same as the rear mounts, since that is movie accurate.

Are there anymore differences between the movie roof rack and the roof rack on the finished ECTO-1 restoration project that I should be warned about?

The only other post-restoration changes I know for certain are that the “Ecto-Scope”, the device with two red rods sticking out of it, was reattached backwards. The tubes should face toward the front of the car, not the back.

- and that the red beacon that's on the driver's side of the car should have a second glass lense. I don't have any specific refence photos that I can think of to illustrate this, unfortunately.
