BigMac's Ecto-1 3D project continues

The ‘half-cylinder’ on the back of the roof rack with the two red stripes and tiny whip antennae - It's mounting bracket was white in the films and not black as it stands today on the refurbished Ectomobile…

Are there anymore differences between the movie roof rack and the roof rack on the finished ECTO-1 restoration project that I should be warned about?

I don't have access to my reference folder at the moment, but off the top of my head and aside from what's already been mentioned…

The tip of the front whip antenna is now bent and attached to the rack in the wrong spot for GB2 but about right for GB1…
The ribbon cables that attach to the rack's heat-sinks are gone…
The grill on the siren appears to be upside-down from what I remember…
The upper mounting plate for blue hoses on the driver's side is gone…
The bottom mount for the gray hose on the passenger-side is wrong…
There's a missing wooden panel inside of the rack (the motors for the moving antennas shouldn't be exposed)…
The top assembly for the air conditioner should be white not black…
The TV antenna isn't red… in the film it appears to be red-orange with a gray box and a black plate underneath…
The wiring has changed from GB1 to GB2 to the restoration (for example, there isn't supposed to be a wire sticking out of the side of the TV antenna)…
The holes dilled into the side panels for the wiring (from what I recall) have changed from GB1 to GB2 to the restoration…
The two small antennas (and from what I remember, their mounts) on the back of the red and white dome are wrong…
The decals on the rack are wrong and/or missing…
The rearview mirror beneath the panoramic mirror is gone…
The rear interior flooring has been changed and a few electronics have been added…

On a side note… Between GB1 and GB2 (if it was indeed the same part) the little black box moved from the back of the rack to the rack's interior…
And I believe in GB2 the Ecto-1 had mud flaps whereas it didn't in GB1.

Okay, so there are a bunch of little details to watch for then. I would like to get some photos from when the roof rack was film accurate so I can see these differences as I work.

The light bar situation is bad, but it could have been worse. I closely examined the differences between the two bars and noticed that the front light bar has 24 little holes going vertically across the chrome center part. While the rear light bar has 14 of these vertical holes, and I did use the rear bar for reference while making the holes. This is good since those holes would be a pain to adjust.

But as you can see in this picture, the bar's chrome center part will need to be made a little thinner in width, along with new reflectors around the inner light bulbs as jogi82 pointed out. I should be able to adjust it without needing to scrap the whole bar.

I thought the original lightbars only had two sets of rotators?

I'll see what I can send your way in the following week. Right now I have some things I need to catch up on.

Nearly all of my Ectomobile info was found through the web and the movies though. So it's out there if you can't wait for my response. I suggest starting here…

..and the pre-restoration and screen-shot sections of GBfans.

Oh yeah, I forgot about theecto1.com, that website alone will probably have all the photos I need.

There is no hurry to get additional photos to me. A new semester has started, and so this project is on hold, again. If you have reference photos that look like they could be helpful, I would definitely like to see them. You can post them right here if you like.

It's a good thing untouched computer files don't collect dust and cobwebs. Otherwise, I'd have a mess to clean up the next time I get around to working on the ECTO-1.

i also noticed from the bueray video docu that the front lightbar has double reflectors around the inner lightbulbs and the bottom isnt chrome! its black! the rar lightbar is movieAcurate!

WHAT I WANT TO SAY ABOUT THE REFLECTORS IS THAT THE DOUBLE REFLECTORS ARE NOT MOVIE ACURATE!

the code3 is build up as followed
from the center to the outside:
a lightbulb with a singlereflector (rotor), then a diamant-plate (a static reflector), then again a lightbulb with a singlereflector (rotor)!

have a lookt at the rear lightbar to see what i mean and copie it to the front!

Alright, so if I make the REAR lightbar and then copy it to make the front lightbar, the car will then be movie accurate, yes? I see what you mean jogi82. This photo of the back lightbar shows one dual rotating reflector centered between two single reflectors, and it's the same on both sides of the bar.

Well I hope I can modify my already made lightbar without too many proportion difficulties. Unfortunately, not much can happen with this project right now. I'm awake 20 hours straight, 3 times a week, and so I feel like crap. I prefer to wait till I get a normal sleep routine before I work on this.

are we talking about the same car? im talking about the ecto1, refurbished for the game promo! as seen on the blueray/game! well, ther were never doublereflectors around a lightbulb in the code3 lightbars on the ecto !
