im talking about the ecto1, refurbished for the game promo! as seen on the blueray/game!

I don't know of this ECTO-1, the only refurbished ECTO-1 I know of is the one posted on gbfans.

I just now skimmed through photos on gbfans and theecto1.com, but I still can't determine what type of lights are in the blue cover of the lightbar. From the photos that show the lights turned on, it does appear to be only two lights on both sides of the lightbar like Kingpin said.

It really is too difficult for me to make the rotating lights based on these photos. I need to find the exact same type of lightbar from an online seller, and hopefully the seller will have close up photos I can use, possibly a detailed description of the lightbar as well.

Just found this on Ebay, not sure if these are an exact match (bulbs don't match the Ecto's) but should be about right…

Yes, the rear light bar is the original from the movie, and is how the original front light bar used to look (though I believe the custom mounting bracket was slightly different to fit the slope of the roof).

Haven't found any diagrams or pics of the middle reflectors but they're probably generic (i.e. not exclusive to just one model of Code 3 light bars), so a broader search for vintage light bars may gleam some useful results.

These are pics you've already seen but they're the best shots of the rear bar, a little photo editing my turn up a few more details…

Sorry I haven't sent you my files yet. They were spread out between two computers and shortly after I posted my main computer tanked. Took five solid days to get it fully operational again, and after that I was even further behind in the other projects I was working on (still am).

I got them all on one system now and I'm in the middle of reorganizing them into something a bit more comprehensive. As I said though, it's probably all stuff you've seen before.

Alright, so if I make the REAR lightbar and then copy it to make the front lightbar, the car will then be movie accurate, yes? I see what you mean jogi82. This photo of the back lightbar shows one double rotating reflector centered between two single rotating reflectors, and it's the same on both sides of the bar.

Well I hope I can modify my already made lightbar without too many proportion difficulties. Unfortunately, not much can happen with this project right now. I'm awake 20 hours straight, 3 times a week, and so I feel like crap. I prefer to wait till I get a normal sleep routine before I work on this.
sorry, for this missunderstanding! yes, this lightbar in this configuration as shown on that picture is movieacurate! it was used on thre front and the rear during the movie!

Here are a few Youtube videos showing different types of Code 3 light bars in action. This should give you a much better understanding of what the floor of a light bar looks like, as well as what the reflector look like…

You know, you can always start a thread over on theecto1.com, asking if anyone can help you out by snapping a few pictures of their light bars with the covers removed.

Theecto-1.com is down again. Hopefully temporarily. We never took any pictures of our lightbars uncovered but we have a few close-ups here: http://www.arizonaghostbusters.com/id85.html

Ooooh, now I understand what's going on.

That third rotating light centered between the other two lights really isn't a light at all, but a reflective part instead. While looking through the lightbar's blue tinted covers it was so difficult to tell what I was seeing in the photos. But it makes sense now after seeing the youtube videos and photos of the ECTO-AZ lightbars.

Thanks guys.

At last I'm getting back to the project, but I just want to mention something I thought about today. Of course I now know that the mounting for the front light bar on the ECTO-1 restoration project is not movie accurate. However, the picture used on the front of the Hot Wheels ECTO-1 box shows the car with the same light bar mounting as the ECTO-1 restoration project.

Not sure if anyone here knows how Hot Wheels goes about making the pictures for their boxes, but it would be interesting to find out if it was made by taking a picture of an ECTO-1 in a 3D modeling program. The car on the box looks like a 3D model to me, though it could have been made with a photo shop program, also. Either way, it appears Hot Wheels used the ECTO-1 restoration project for their reference while making the picture.

Though if Hot Wheels did have their own ECTO-1 model, I wouldn't consider it as something to make my model less appealing, since I'm sure the car wouldn't have an interior, given the car's windows are solid black rather than transparent.

I think it would be cool if Hot Wheels has a collection of 3D model cars that were made for the sake of creating images on Hot Wheel car boxes. They could release the models to people, such as myself for use in games and whatnot.
