Bill Murray to play ghost in GB3

Don't know if this is true or not. But I was reading an article from a UK movie magazine and Bill Murray was being interviewed. He said that if he was going to be in GB3 he would want to killed off in the first 2 minutes so he could play a ghost. THAT would be the only way he would do another GB film.

I suppose you can read what you want into that. Was he being sarcastic? was he serious? who knows!

Here's a Dutch ghosthead speaking…
I dare say: if there is no other chance of getting Murray into a possible GB3, why not take that chance. I kind of like the idea to be honest. Whether or not the rumour is true, it would be better than a GB3 without Bill, wouldn't it?

Yeah, I agree. It would make it quite fun.

I personally think that if Bill won't do GB3 what-so-ever, it would be best not to do one at all!!! Now, for someone like me who got addicted to GB back in 84 when I was only 8 years old and have even visited New York and visited all the locations used for the film (my hotel was actually situated just round the corner from Danas apartment on central park west - cool eh?) That is quite a thing to say.

How would you write a ‘ghost’ venkman into the film? Answers on a stamp addressed envelope.

How to write a Venkman ghost into the film? Dunno, actually. I do have an idea, though.
I think the film should start in the middle of a bust, a somewhat-more-dangerous-than-the-average bust, and either Peter is hit by the proton-stream or the ghost their trying to catch is extraordinarily lethal. So if Peter gets killed, he should be killed in the first five minutes of the film. Maybe even before the theme music is being played.
This might look a bit grim, but didn't Aykroyd say something about him having the idea that it was going to be a bit grimmer than the previous two anyway?

I do agree that if Bill doesn't want to be in it at all, they probably shouldn't make it. He should AT LEAST get a short cameo appearance (e.g. something of a nature as I just described above).
I also think - having Blues Brother 2000 in the back of my mind - that the persons possibly involved that are not called Dan Aykroyd (e.g. Ramis & Reitman)should be very critical on the script before they start the shooting and all (no offense to Dan, but I think Blues Brothers could have been made better than that…

I had Venkman die after about the first 15 minutes in my CGI GB3 script I wrote a few years back… that project was scrapped tho… They were called out to handle a disturbance but it went terribly wrong… peter never really died, he was just “removed” from reality and he returned at the end of the movie to save the day…

I personally like the idea of Bill just having a cameo rather than being killed off and being a ghost. I think that if he was to be killed off… that would just totally change the purpose and the feeling of the movie. I don't know how to explain myself haha. But yeah… Bill is too good to be killed off.

Bill often said if he was going to do another GB movie, he'd want to be a ghost (and not have as signifacant a role). I don't think he ever put much that thought into it, he just doesn't really want to return to GB.

As for me, GBIII would all be too strange. I'm hopefull for more GB projects, but with everyone wanting GBIII to be something or not something, it's better left not produced.

In my own Opinion Bill has done some real crap movies, as well as some good movies(like GB) so I think it's kinda crazy that he wouldn't wanna do Gb. Me and my best friend always play Gb when we were little, I was Ray, He was Peter, and if we went to see GbIII it would be really wierd to have no Venkman. It kinda sounds like a Star wars thing (where Obi-Wan gives himeself to the force to help luke) with peter being killed and then coming back as a ghost. I wonder if he would be a “bad” ghost, or a “good” ghost.
Bottom line, it sounds ok, but I'd like having a venkman better.

Venkman Dead? that would make all Ghostheads pissed. I have no idea why Bill wants the most faved character in GB killed off at the beginning of the movie. If I saw that happen, I whould hate Bill for making that stupid statment, then loose all respect for Dan just for going along with it! I think it would be batter not to make GB3 if something like that was going to happen in the script. Who agrees with me?
