Two minute Ghostbusters teaser

By Nick Carr (bizdog)

FADE IN:

INT. OFFICE COPIER ROOM – DAY

Inside a small office copy room, an average white collar LACKEY is making copies. He presses the green button with a look of boredom, sipping his coffee.

We move down to the paper tray. Some kind of translucent ooze begins dripping out of the opening.

Suddenly, the copier freezes. The lackey jumps to attention. The green LCD screen reads: PAPER JAM. He bends down and opens the paper drawer -

Releasing a large green demonic ghost, ROARING in his face! The lackey's eye go wide, and he bolts out of the copier room through the door into

INT. MAIN OFFICE – CONTINUOUS

~the main office ~to find the place in a paranormal state of turmoil! Papers are flying everywhere as ghosts toss filing cabinets, throw trash barrels, and overturn desks. A hoard of OFFICE WORKERS attempt to run to the door, but an overweight phantasm blocks their path.

The office lackey looks at all this with horror. Suddenly, he has an idea. He urgently picks up the phone on the wall and begins dialing.

A FEMALE OFFICE EMPLOYEE seeks shelter next to him.

FEMALE OFFICE EMPLOYEE
Who are you going to call?!

CUT TO:

INT. OFFICE HALLWAY – LATER

We are in a long, deserted hallway leading towards the main office.

The elevator opens at one end, as the GHOSTBUSTERS theme begins.

THE BOOTS

Four pairs of boots walk quickly and determinately down the hall.

THE PACKS

Four proton packs glow brilliantly with full power.

THE NAMETAGS

Quick cuts between: “Venkman”; “Spengler”; “Stantz”; “Zeddmore”;

THE NEUTRONA BLASTERS

Intercut shots of four neutrona blasters being pulled and switched on with a LOUD hum.

THE NO-GHOST LOGO

The familiar No-Ghost logo stares at us from the shoulder of a jumpsuit.

THE GHOSTBUSTERS

We are staring straight on at our four heroes: (from left to right) Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddmore. They eye the door with fury.

VENKMAN
Kick it down.

With as much strength as they can muster, Stantz and Spengler lift their boots and kick directly into the camera -

And fall to the ground as the door doesn't budge. Venkman and Zeddmore watch them pathetically. Venkman rubs his eyes.

VENKMAN
OK, let's try that one again.

Er, yeah, i read through those teasers, and…they're just kinda boring. They're all either in your face explosions/gun blasts/trapping, or subtle logos and text. What you need to do is remind people of why GB is good - dry humor and good characterization. When you first see the four guys in mine, i guarantee you will have full theater applause whereever it airs, because there's a buildup to the punchline. The kicking the door thing doesnt sound funny down on paper - but then again, rarely are comedic scripts funny on paper - but imagine it in the context of Aykroyd and Ramis with determination, then falling.
