The Illinois church made famous in The Blues Brothers film has been destroyed in a fire.
Firefighters were forced to smash down the Pilgrim Baptist Church of South Chicago's stained glass windows to tackle the blaze last week.
The place of worship gained fame after funk legend James Brown sang there during a scene in the hit 1980 movie.

Do we know how/why the church came to be on fire?

Count Grishnackh strikes again!

But seriously, it is kind of ironic. Only this time it's a burning not a takeover. I don't think Dan Ackroyd or John Belushi saw that one coming!

I hope they catch the people who set that church on fire. I bet who ever did this probably did not know the history behind it.

No one set it on fire, it was destroyed in an electrical fire. Here's an article: http://cbs2chicago.com/local/local_story_266122533.html
