Boston Globe: "GB3 to start filming this fall"

I do hope that they're wise enough to make any new GBs of comparative age to the original four in the first movies. By which I mean late twenties at the very, very youngest.

Surely no-one wants to see teenagers running around with proton packs? Almost all of the seventies reboot movies have been wrecked by including teens where adults first were (i know this isn't a reboot, but you get my drift).

My two cents there, marvellous.

Rob makes a good point, the teenagers in packs has been done already and well look how far that went. Not saying that I didnt like Extreme Ghostbusters or anything. I'm glad that they choose to take the franchise to the next level and really enjoyed Edwardo's charactor. I myself would love to see the third movie with the originals kicking ass, as many others have stated.

I think as long as it's handled well, a new team could take over. We should look at this like what Star Trek Phase II was going to be. The original crew, or at least some of them like Kirk, would have been replaced by the younger crew. As long as the transition is handled with dignity, it will work fine.

Apatow Productions Officially In Charge Of Ghostbusters 3
By Katey Rich: 2009-03-01 19:49:54

Apatow Productions Officially In Charge Of Ghostbusters 3 Judd Apatow's name has been attached the rumors about Ghostbusters 3 since they first began, with all reports saying he would be the producer for the film written by The Office writers Lee Eisenberg and Greg Stupnitsky. Now the production has gotten so close to actually happening that Production Weekly is listing it– and wouldn't you know, Apatow Productions is right there in charge.

Sure, it's not huge news– we could probably have assumed from the first rumor that Apatow would be involved, given that he's the reigning demi-god of comedy. But the inclusion in Production Weekly means the whole thing is actually happening, beyond just Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray getting asked awkward questions about the project's status. No actor names are attached to the Production Weekly piece, but at this point, it seems like only a matter of time before the gentlemen prepare to suit up a third time.
