What i want to do is to rip some songs off of old video games and put them onto a cd. Does anybody know how to do this? For example, i have a bunch of old systems, atari 2600, NES, Sega Gen…and alot of games for those systems have songs that i'd like to listen to on a cd but i dont know how to take them and put them on a disc. Can somebody tell me how to do it? Like on the old Sega game Ghostbusters, there are the battle songs when you fight the boss ghost and i dont know how to take that song and put it on a disc. Can somebody tell me what to do? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

hi.
your best bet is to get the stuff of the web like on
www.vgmusic.com
they have quite a lot.
otherwise, do a search for like:
video+game+music or “game name”+music
on yahoo.com or google.com
the ultimate solution would be to connect your system to your pc but try the web first.
tell me if it worked ;-)

I would find a tv with an audio out rca jack. Connect the audio out to the line in port on your sound card using an rca cable. (you may have have to tell the tv to use the audio out port, mine has a switch witch selects between the tvs speakers and the audio port) and then you use a recording program, like sound recorder (comes with windows) you have to go to your volume settings and adjust with the line-in volume too, by default it is muted. then start up the game, and hit the record button on the computer. This will record them in .wav format from thier you can use your cd recording software to put the .wav file on to the cd.

I love when people post this type of question…….people have already done all the work. Just look online, you can find the tune of any game online and even some remixes. A popular one is the Mario techno remix. Alot of them are pritty good. You can also find TV shows. On a cd I have an inspector gaget techno remix, and, in my opinion, it's a good song.

cause even though there are a lot of NES and Atari music i want, there are about about a dozen or more Genesis games that have a bunch of songs that i would like to get from them. As for the NES and other versions, midi's would do ok, less i cant get a exact copy from the game themselves.

i checked some of the sites online and they do have a good assortment, just not what i was hoping for. Someone said…either from this board or another one, i cant remember, but about using a emulator to record the songs directly using a wav player. Anybody know a good NES, Sega Genesis emulators that you can do that with?

(and just for legal ramifications, Yes i own the bloody carts that i plan on recording music of.)
