There was a song that went to the tune of the Cheers theme song that a local DJ used to play on the radio. It went like, “When you have a job you really hate. And you never ever ever want to be late. When you have a job you hate and it really really sucks. When you have to go to a job you hate.” I tried googling the lyrics and absolutly nothing related to this song even came up. It's almost like this song doesn't even exist. But I know I heard it on the radio back when I was in 8th grade in 2000.

Best of luck, but chances are someone won't be able to help you. Given the fact that this was probably a limited commercial in certain areas, and was probably a jingle of some sort, unless there are several people who live in your area, you're probably SOL.

The only other song I know to the Cheers tune was the Simpsons Flaming Moes Parody. but the Lyrics aren't the same as the ones you posted.

Never mind. I don't think I'm ever going to find it. Thanks for your suggestions though.

Is this a general “help me find ___ song” thread? If so, may I ask for help?

I'm trying to get the name of an instrumental, surf-style track from the ‘60s or somewhere around that time. I think it’s the music John Travolta and Uma Thurman danced to in Pulp Fiction. It's got a very, very famous melody line, and I think it may have been used in That Thing You Do!

If it's a local thing it's going to be very difficult for others to help you find.

I dug through a site dedicated to different versions of the theme song, including parodies, and it wasn't among them. Sorry.

That's the one! I never knew the name of it. (*ray)

Actually, I was also looking for “Pump It” by The Black Eyed Peas. I'd heard that main riff somewhere before, and put two and two together. Thanks for the clue, though.

I do wonder where the guy got this song. I wish he remembered.
