Pre-rendering them allows them to employ more effects that the they could've possibly implemented by just using the normal game mechanics.
And here's a fun fact, the pre-rendered cutscenes were rendered by Rainmaker, the current incarnation of what was once Mainframe Entertainment, the guys who created ReBoot and Beast Wars.

Well, the first renders were them.
the new ones were by another company. It's still Rainmaker's animations though.

I think I am one of the few Transfans that actually enjoyed Beast Wars.
I didnt like Beast Machines though.

In comparison to most of the crap that is out now, I think Beast Wars is was awesome. I hold David Kaye and Gary Chalk in the same regards as most Transfans hold Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. Cullen and Welker are awesome and will always be the original…but I still like Kayes Megatron…
