I never made a proton pack or any Ghostbusters props as matter of fact but I know tons of people on this site that have.

They usually always use different materials then Cardboard though.

Here is a proton pack a member of this site is making right now. He also said he's going to use it for Halloween this year.

I know it doesn’t look like much right now but according to his plans it should look like the real thing once it’s done.

i made mine of assorted things, primarily sturdy cardboard and other materials, a mixed media, if you will. (*peter)

my first one was done out of cardboard.

That was like 5 years ago, so obviously I don't still have it, but what I did after all of it was assembled was wrap the entire thing in tape, and I believe that I pained a few coats of acrylic paint over everything.

Haha, yes, I actually made one out of cardboard, in addition to PVC pipes, but the majority is out of cardboard and poster paper. Heres a pic:

Wow that is really nice looking for cardboard. I always thought cardboard wasn’t the main material people used for proton packs. The best thing about cardboard now that I think about it, it’s really lightweight which is good and easy to get

And the paint helps to protect it from moister.

Just wondering gbuster1a is that the same proton pack you wear to Best Buy :-)

Thanks everybody. Yea, the cardboard held up surprisingly well. I spraypainted it, then coated it with a layer of gloss sealer, so its waterproof and wont get damaged by moisture. This isnt the same pack I used when I went into Best Buy, that pack is still in NYC, unfortunately I couldnt fit it in my car when I moved here to Michigan, so I decided to make a new one since halloween was approaching, even though that one is better, it has lights and an ALICE Pack frame. The cardboard for this pack is thick though, about 1/4" thick. I could have added lights and stuff, but decided not too, since I didnt have much money. It cost me around $60 to make the thing, in about 3 days.

What plans you use? Really wanna attempt one myself! Cardboard is inexpensive and it'd be good practice for when I save the cash to go whole hog!

I used Paranormans plans, found here:

Just make sure you get heavy cardboard for the motherboard. I used gorilla glue to hold all the parts together, very strong, along with Elmers glue to fill some cracks. Any other questions, feel free to ask.
