Yes, yes we have been burned before. And yes, the ball had been turning before. And yes, the film is not greenlit, which means this is all rumors until it is, lol.

Guarded optimism is the way to approach this. It definitely seems like its never been this close, but its still not definite yet.

I think guarded optimism is a result of growing up. Pretend not to care and then if something doesn't end up happening you can at least act like it didn't bother you.

Either way, I think this is the best shot this movie has had since the rumors started swirling such a long time ago. I still think if it doesn't happen within the next 3-4 years then it will never happen. The guys are getting too damn old and any more waiting is going to make it so that they have to pull them out of the retirement home.

Aykroyd obviously wants this to happen, and before I wouldn't have paid any attention to what he said about the possible 3rd movie, I'm going with my gut on this one because I think this is actually it. Either way, that's just my opinion, we'll see what happens.

I'm not pulling a Patrick or anything, but you guys are waaay to negative, at no time has ghostbusters 3 been as close to happening as it is now. Even nonfans know that ghostbusters 3 is happening. I have friends tell me quite often that they heard that it is happening. I know everybody says we've been burned before, but no not really. Before it was just a rumor, it's not a rumor anymore. I agree, people on this site act like they got raped and will never trust men ever again. Stop acting like people here went threw a war that noone else experienced. I also remember the rumors years ago, and if you think back they weren't as strong as the more recent newsafter the video

No one's acting like you can't trust anything. Its called learning from the past to know that rumors are rumors, and its fun to get excited about them, but nothing is 100% confirmed yet.

Dont get me wrong I know there is a fifty fifty chance of this movie getting made, actually probably less than that. I just dont like how “clicky” this site is sometimes. It seems like anytime someone outside of the usual posts they're made to sound like a moron.

all im saying is that even though an individual hasn't been part of this organization for years doesn't mean they haven't experienced the same thing. Having posted a thousand threads doesn't make you more knowledgeable about the subject

Over the years various rumors have floated around about the film Ghostbusters III. The official press release regarding the movie has yet to be issued, but is expected within the next month.

Let’s take a look at the story so far this year with the anticipated movie.

In early January, Ivan Reitman confirmed that he will be directing the film. In March 2010, Bill Murray appeared on Late Show with David Letterman and talked about his return to Ghostbusters III, stating “I’d do it only if my character was killed off in the first reel”. In an interview with Coming Soon, Murray said: “You know, maybe I should just do it. Maybe it’d be fun to do.”. Aykroyd said a release is set for Christmas 2012.

In October 2010, Dan Aykroyd gave Vanity Fair an update on the status of the Ghostbusters 3 script, written by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg: “I’m working on the script now and those two—Stupnitsky and Eisenberg, —wrote Bill the comic role of a lifetime, and the new Ghostbusters and the old are all well represented in it…we have a strong first draft that Harold and I will take back, and I’m very excited about working on it.”

Shortly after that interview, at the Spike TV Scream Awards, Bill Murray appeared to accept an award for Zombieland. He appeared in full Ghostbusters gear, but gave no statements regarding the film.

In mid-October, a Sony Product Marketing Manager (Stefano Paganini) appeared at a Ghostbusters event in Rome and said “I spoke about this night with my boss from Los Angeles. She allowed me to let you know that the script of ‘Ghostbusters 3′ has been approved so the engine has been turned on!”

The original cast will return while casting is currently underway looking for young Ghostbusters. It has been reported Anna Farris has been cast as a young Ghostbuster and Will Forte and Bill Hader have be linked to unamed roles. Shooting will begin in May 2011.

I stated my opinion on the matter. Just because we disagree, and that some people want to act like the movie is a sure thing while others choose to remain guarded, does not mean that anyone is being clicky. It means that people have their opinions, which is perfectly fine.
