Chasing The 80s - The Ultimate American Movie Location Roadtrip

Hi all,

Thought this would be of interest to you:

Recently, three men careering hopelessly towards the end of their twenties decided to undertake a ridiculous romp of sheer nostalgic indulgence.
It was to be one last look back to the glorious past before they decided to be grown ups and think about the present and the future. But first, it was all about Ghostbusters, Goonies, Guttenberg, blood, sweat and Corey Haim.
The tour lasted three months and began and ended in Toronto, home of Police Academy. Over the 12 weeks, they met Chunk from the Goonies, Hightower, Hooks, Harris and Callahan from Police Academy, Jesse Ventura, Oscar the Grouch, Howling Mad Murdoch, Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell among many others.

They end up in New York at 14 North Moore Street, a key Ghostbusters location…

On this site you'll find a collection of video diaries and photographs that document this epic, ludicrous foray into nostalgia that went one step further than any of those clip shows ever could. And as if that's not enough, the Chasing the 80s book is on its way.

Cheers

Sounds…. interesting.

Though I think you mean careening towards the end of the twenties, not careering. And there's no link. Also, it sounds more like a Police Academy thing than anything else based on who you met, though it would be interesting to hear about some of the other places you may have visited. And did you seriously get a book deal for this, or are you just a bunch of fans making your own book?

Think it might have deleted the link - I'll try again.

We're British - I believe careering has a similar meaning to careening.

Ironically there is a extremely small Ghostbusters link with Police Academy, Fire Station #23 served as the exterior of the police station in Police Academy 2.

Did it really? I'm gonna have to go back and look at that. We're talking about the one in LA right?

Yep, one and the same. It's the back of LA 23 so it may not be instantly recognisable as being part of the Firehouse.
