Hi, I'm new, to Ghostbusters and to this fourm.

I've been really confused with the comics, I'd tried looking around the internet for some info but I couldn't find any, so I figured I'd go here to ask some quessys:

1)How many comics are there?

2)Are they/will they ever be published in harbacks

3)Are they more based on the cartoon, or the movie… or a bit of both

Many thanks,

Matt :-)

1) So far there are 5 comics. There is the 4-part “Legion” miniseries and a comic convention exclusive, “The Zeddemore Factor”. The confusion may come from the fact that there are many different covers for the different issues of “Legion”. Here's the list:
“Legion #1”: 6 covers
“Legion #2”: 2 covers
“Legion #3”: 2 covers
“Legion #4”: 3 covers

“Legion” along with a colored version of “The Zeddemore Factor” (it was originally in black and white) are being collected along with bonus material in a hardcover edition that is soon to be released. Pre-orders for that have already closed, and they are only printing the number of pre-orders they received. Your best bet would be to ask your comic shop if they ordered it and if they did to save one for you, or order from GrahamCrackers.com (you can also order the other issues there as well).

As for the influence on the comic, it is definitely more movie based. The guys act more like adults and have more sophisticated humor, instead of the childish RGB stuff (not that that's bad). However, there are a few influences from RGB, like the containment unit. Everything else is basically all movie based, at least in my opinion.

Yes, there was a Marvel U.K. series based on RGB. The U.S. equivalent was NOW.

The first one is a book called Ghostbusters: The Return by Sholly Frisch, it was published quite recently.

The second one is probably one of Marvel's annuals. I think they just re-used stories from the comics in the annuals, and put a little more in. Having said that, it's a paperback, so I'm not sure.

Now Comics was the company in the US publishing The Real Ghostbusters comics. They published 28 issues + some annual, 3D issues, a Ghostbusters II movie adaptation, and also a Slimer series that went thru 19 issues I think + a 3D comic.

btw, I am selling 13 RGB Now Comics on eBay for 5 bucks…

It's undetermined if that Ghostbusters Compendium has any relation to the Ghostbusters created by Dan Aykroyd.

The Marvel Ghostbusters series ran fof a hundred or so issues, but it was a very poorly done series, no pre-established bad guys and a pretty big ignorance when it came to established facts in the cartoon…not to mention very kiddy moments (More kiddy then the show ever got).

As for the Ghostbusters novel, it was published by IBooks last year as an intended first book in a series…but Barnes and Noble, the rat bastards they are, refused to stock it because they believed Ghostbusters was a ‘dead franchise’.

I heavily Recommend Now's series if you can get ahold of them.
