Completely insane idea I had for a prop replica.

We've been having some problems with our kitchen sink at home, which means we had to replace one of the lines underneath–the one that looks a bit like a metallic spinal cord (I forget what the technical name for it is).

I now have that piece of tubing that connects the drum to the CPU, and I didn't have to buy it!

I shall think about an electronics class at Moraine Valley this summer. Maybe I'll learn how to rig up that circuit board.

Argh, how did I miss this earlier?

On the side where Forrest Tucker turns the handlebar, there's a part where a tube connects to the drum. It's attached to a part separate from the handlebar, held in place with four screws. I'm going to point it out in a picture.

The DVD cover's image has a much higher resolution.

I would love to give this build a shot if someone has some high res shots of it send them my way and I'll get right to work on one. Doesn't look to utterly complex.

Ah, but it IS difficult, that's the tricky thing. First off, it's not equal on either side–one side is longer than the other. Second, I'm planning something big for this thing. I'm giving it actual working lights and sound effects.

Personally, I'd much rather see you do something with the MKII–the cartoon show version. I've no idea how to tackle that one.

well toss me some images of the MKII and I'll start working on her, and if you decide you don't want to do the MK1 letme know and I can give her a crack too. I just need some good shots to work off of, I don't own the cartoon.

Well, I can't do anything for you this week, as I must go out of town on Friday (I'll be back Sunday). I'll see if I can get a few good screengrabs for you in the weeks to come.

That said, one thing you should keep in mind is that it's far larger than the MK-I, and a lot longer, but it still keeps the same overall shape (a camera with handlebars). A camera flash and the Photon Torpedo sound effect from Star Trek would provide the overall effect, but if they ever make a small enough smoke-ring gun to fit inside, you could really go to town.

Here's what I posted last night on Proptopia.
—————-
Formalized measurements, once and for all.

THE WHOLE SHEBANG:

24“ long* x 5” wide (deep) x 10“ high (that's with the CPU on top). It's far less without the handlebars and side piece.
——————————-
THE DRUM:

6” diameter x 5“ deep.
——————————-
SIDE PIECES:

5” long x 5“ deep x 6” high.
——————————-
HANDLEBARS:

These add 4 inches to each side.
——————————-
THAT EXTRA BIT ON THE SIDE:

This adds 4 inches to the left side of the thing. I assume it's to accomodate the iris mechanism.
——————————
THE CPU:

5“ long x 3.5” deep x 4“ long.
——————————
PVC PIPE:

0.5” diameter x 2 or 3" high.

Of course, these are quite possibly inaccurate. I'm not very good with measurements, and I'm only going from educated guesses based on what I've seen on the show.
