Did any of you stop and think why Bill doesn't want to do GB3? I'm sure the actor has many reasons for not wanting to make it. I don't think it's because he doesn't want to do a 3rd film. I think he's trying to save the franchaise. I know that there are alot of people that think less of him. But he is a great actor. So what if he's taking time off. So what if he's mowing his lawn or whatever he's doing. He doesn't owe any of you nothing. Yeah the latest comments if you ask me does sound drastic. All this world is coming to is 2 words "I want. Well we always can't get what we want.

I really don't care who wants to reply and stick there nose up or whatever lol. I just know that you can't blame Bill Murray for no 3rd film.

Why do I think he's trying to save the franchaise? I will explain you see Ghostbusters is a great movie and a great fanchaise. What if the film doesn't hold up to the other 2? Think about it for a minute. Ghostbusters also captured that spirit of the 80s. And I think Bill doesn't want to take the chance of jeopardizing the franchaise. And as much as I would like to see a 3rd film. I am happy with what I got. At least he did do part 2. He didn't have to do that. But some of you ghostheads all you want to do is complain and blame it all on Bill Murray.

Sorry But i had to say it. I am Bill Murray fan. I support his decison and I am sure that there are others that do too. I never really see anything said bad against sony. I see all the fingers pointing at Bill Murray. And it just isn't right.

For the record, Ghostbusters 3 has had Bill Murray's backing. It's been officially said (most notable in the recent Harold Ramis interview) that Bill Murray said he'd cameo in the film but Columbia wouldn't give the movie a green light. It seems he's since decided that Ghostbusters is best left as it is or he's simply moved on - either way I see Bill has more of a fondness for Ghostbusters than a hatred.

I don't think there is any official record on Murray's views about GB. Just lots of speculation, much of which hasn't made Murray look too thrilled to have been a part of GB. I remember recently how it was rumored that the GB figures in their flightsuits could not be made because Murray either would not allow his likeness to be used, or didn't give permission to make the figures at all(I think he owns a portion of the GB license).
At this point, who knows why GB3 hasn't been made. I doubt it's solely because of Murray. Or even because he thinks it'd be done bad, and so he's not allowing it to be made for that reason. He's proven that he's not afraid to be a part of bad movies, like Garfield for one.
But hey, if people want to call Murray a jackass, I say go for it. While nothing has really been proven about his views, it's probably not just coincidence that there have been far more bad GB rumors regarding him than good. If Murray is standing in the way of a GB3 being made for any personal reasons despite Ramis, Aykroyd, and/or Sony possibly wanting to make it, then that does make him a very big jackass in my book.
I might be able to understand where Murray were coming from if, just for example, maybe Aykroyd were demanding that Murray at least make a cameo. But if that is not expected of him and yet he is still standing in the way of the film's production, then he is a jackass. Even if a GB3 did turn out bad, most of the fans could probably learn to forget about it. I've heard about some fans reacting to GB2 like that. But there still is at least a chance that a GB3 could be successful and could bring the GB franchise back in the spotlight, which much of the fanbase would love, I'm sure. I know I'd like to see the GBs a real mainstream hit once again. For Murray to try to stop that chance, for personal reasons, would just be wrong.

I don't think there is any official record on Murray's views about GB.

During an interview for the TODAY SHOW a few years back, he said something along the lines of “GHOSTBUSTERS is one of my favorite films…”
Just because he doesn't want to give the “ok” for another sequel, merchandise, etc., doesn't mean he hates the movie.

Just give the okay, dude.

If he doesn't want to be in it, fine, but don't stop them from making it.

… why does everyone assume this? It can't be made without his say so because he owns part of the licencing rights.

I think he's saying that Bill should just ‘say yes’ so it can possibly get done. He's the one that's holding up the franchise from progressing.
