if you go to giantbomb.com there is a new interview that explains what happens when you cross the streams and iv seen footage of multiplayer where if just two people cross the streams then its shoots a boson dart looking thing back at you and knocks you back but if you watch the interview it tells what happens when you cross four

There is a wide belief that the beams will not force on themselves alone. The beam will “repel” each other if they get to close and the only way to truly “cross” them is to force them to cross. The beams want to repel each other like two magnets, but if you force them they can cross.

thats sounds believable!
remember the 1. movie where the gb had realy hard to fight to cross the streams?
i think when the streams cross each other just btw in an regular bust (like in all the gameplay-videos) and ull see an “GAME OVER” wouldnt be so cool to play!

Wow, even the beams themselves know not to cross, and yeah, that makes sense given what we saw on that one video where two of them crossed and it repelled them back.

That's “scientifically” correct as the streams do have the same frequency.

The magnet exemple is great! ;-)

So I guess we haven't seen Crossing the Streams yet. We've seen ‘merge’ of the streams.

This also explains how two wrangle streams can be on the same ghost i.e. onion head in the first film and almost every episode of RGB

So I guess we haven't seen Crossing the Streams yet. We've seen ‘merge’ of the streams.

The way Egon said it in the first film was something of a mistake. Since we saw at the end of the film they had to force them to merge, rather than cross. Because they're all streams of accelerated protons, they would naturally repulse each other. It's basic science.

So “Cross” the streams is really a misnomer. It was a quick set up for the scene at the end (so that it wasn't just a deus ex machina), so to make it fit in the context of the Slimer bust, he had to simplify it to “cross the streams” as opposed to “merge the streams.” Crossing is easier to understand on-the-fly as opposed to explaining how they'd have to “merge” them.
