Custom Ghostbusters 12 inch figures. I need help!

Hi. I am new to this board. I have been a huge fan of Ghostbusters since first seeing it and loving in the theater in 1984! I'm now trying to make custom 12 inch figures of the four Ghostbusters guys. I found custom heads for Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, and Dan Akroyd as Ray Stantz on eBay. I want to get custom heads for Harold Ramis as Egon Spengler, and Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore. Does anyone out there make custom resin heads in the 1/6 scale for 12 inch figures? If so, please reply here and we can talk. I'm also looking for the Ghostbusters khaki gray flight suits that they wore as their outfits. Anyone know where I can find those? Is there any existing G.I. Joe or other existing military 12 inch figure out there that has the same flight suit the guys wore in the movie? Please let me know if you do. I really appreciate the help! I know I'll have to find some way to make the proton packs and ghost trap on my own from scratch. But, I wanted to try to find existing flight suits and the other two custom heads I need for Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Any and all help would be great! Thanks!

i thought about doing this a little while ago. when it comes to egon's head and winston's head, i dont know if your gonna be lucky enough to find one (*winston) . but i could be wrong. as for the suits, your better off probably making them your self. go to your nearest arts and crafts store, they might have doll costume sets, or just do it the old fashioned way with a certain kind of fabric (i couldnt tell you which one (*ray) ),

what are you gonna do about the packs?

i am still contemplating doing this so if this goes through, tell me what the grand total was. (*peter)

PS: welcome aboard! :p

Hi “crossing the streams”! I like your username. Well, I figure it will be difficult to find someone that will make a custom head for Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. But I will try. Maybe a customizer out there will do it for a price. I'll look into that.

As for the outfit, I'm not much of a stitcher or sewer. I would rather try to find a flight suit of the same color as the guys wore in the first movie. I may even be able to find one a different color, and just dye it to the khaki gray color I need. I'm always checking existing G.I. Joe 12 inch figures on toy store shelves all the time.

The proton pack? Well, I may have to mold it out of modeling clay, or this great stuff customizers use called “Super Sculpey”. I think my local Hobby Lobby has some of it. Otherwise, I may be able to carve them out of styrofoam or a stronger foam called polystyrene.

So you're interested in doing this too? Well, I found the Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd heads from the same seller on eBay under the user ID: diver4. His name is Dale Van Slyke, and he's a great guy. I've bought a few celebrity custom heads from him. Check him out!

My next custom project is finally finishing a custom 12 inch Indiana Jones I've wanted since I was a kid. I“m almost there. I just have to paint the head and put it on a body. I spent a lot of money getting top-quality custom accessories and clothes for him on eBay. I can send pictures of him to you when I'm done if you're interested in seeing him.

Than, I will start on my custom 12” Venkman and Stantz. I'll at least work on them first, and then someday maybe be able to do Spengler, and Zeddemore.

Take Care,

Mike Buckley

yea man that sounds awesome i would love to see the indiana jones figure .

anywho, if you should check out this site:

http://www.andgor.com/murray.html

this company made a custom 12" Venkeman figure for a comic convention and it turned out awesome. you could probably use it for reference on creating your figures.

Hey. I have pictures of that exact figure! They showed it years ago in a toy collector magazine I get called Toyfare. The company that made it, Andgor, is now out of business. I tried e-mailing them twice about this figure and I never got a reply. I found out that the Bill Murray custom head I have now was taken from their molds! So I know I have a great head to work with now. I"ll keep you posted on my progress, and post pictures here, or I can e-mail them to you. Let me know if you want me to e-mail the pics to you.

just post the pics here so the whole forum can see what a great job your doing. (*peter)

haha

i'll keep an eye out for sites that have clothing and acessorie packages. i found this one great site a while back but i cant seem to find it now but i'll keep looking.

for some reason, when i was looking for clothing for 12" figures, i couldnt find a single site that had a legit jump suit that wasnt orange haha

you gotta have like a friend or relative that can sew or something. im sure you'll find something out and if you find a freind or relative that can, you just gotta ask them to do an extremely geeky and nerdy favor from them :p

haha :-)

That may be just as well, I've read reports that when people bought the head sculpt it's quality was severely disproportionate to the one seen in the image.

And just for clarification, it wasn't made for a convention it was made for ToyFare.

You're right Kingpin. The Peter Venkman figure was made exclusively for Toyfare. I wonder if they own the figure now. I'll do the best I can with the Murray and Akroyd heads. I"ll post pictures here when I'm done with the figures. I'll keep checking websites and online stores for the gear I need to finish them.
