well she didn't HAVE to be the main focus… she could've been a background character… showing up every now and then to try and get Peter to come home, or something…

I guess she just decided to leave New York (wouldn't blame her), since it keeps drawing in crazy supernatural monsters to screw with her. XD

or maybe she and Venkman are going through a rough spot?? :p

I think the official explanation is that she ditched Peter for an orchestra job somewhere in California. You know what that means, right?

Movies or cartoon, canon or non-canon, Peter's always been a playboy at best, womanizer at worst. Dana, while a necessary plot point for a movie, doesn't strike me as a permanent partner for Peter.
