Deleted Scenes (guest staring rant about sony)

I was thinking to day, as you do, about the deleted scenes from both Ghostbusters one and two. do they actually exist? We all know there where filmed and left on the cutting room floor. This also happend with another film Evil Dead 2, were there was a couple of scenes filmed that were left out and have since been lost. Does anyone know anything about this? there's so much from GB2 that im dying to see and i can guarantee we're never going to, not even on the bluray which would be real nice, plus the fort scene from the first film, that would be amazing…

while on the topic of bluray, and this is where im gonna rant, (*rant) i have no right to because i have no idea on the technical aspects of such procedures. But i was so proud to watch GB in high def and my brother was saying to me that it wasnt every good cause of the snowy picture, which my excuse was “well it wasnt filmed on high def cameras and the picture can only be as good as the original transfer” or something like that, but i now think that im just making excuses cause “The Thing” is four years older that GB and its blu ray is almost crystal clear.

its not that big of a deal i guess, but ghostbusters wasnt just another blockbuster, as we are all aware its got a pretty big following, do you think that, i dont know, independence day will have such a big following 25yrs after it first came out? Lets look at star wars for example, though its not out yet, i would put good money on its bluray release being the most crystal clear bluray known to man!!! I know GB hasnt got a big a following as Star Wars, but its still pretty big, there's us the fanatics, and theres the rest of the world, have any of you met anyone who doesnt like ghostbusters? (or for that matter a man who doent like die hard? think about it…).

What is sonys problem, do they not realise that the have there hands on something pretty epic? the films and tv show, which by the the why would love to have more than just season one in the uk please… and why is EGB out here and not in america? and why did we have a timed delay on GBTVG just in europe? sort your selves out sony, god….

and another thing, we're all glad you finally put ecto back together you did a great job, but for the love of christ why did you put a home cinema system in it? you pompous pricks!! it would be like puting a mcdonalds drive thru in Auschwitz

sorry had to let my feelings out, but if anyone knows about them scenes it would be nice to find out….

the grain is fine, some films have it, some don't, it depends on the filmstock used. If you DNR it out the film looks no better than DVD. ts time people stopped whingeing at dvd companies, and learned a bit about film first.
There is however a problem with the Gozer scene where the colour and contrast appears to have been messed with, causing blow-out on faces. This problem wasn't on previous releases.

Films lose scenes all the time, it's nothing unique here.

GB2 just don't have big enough of a following outside of the major GB fans to demand that they put out a definitive edition. The common man does like it, but usually when they casually catch it on tv. A 4 disk special edition wouldn't sell that well.

Sony made a new hi-def print of the film for theaters. Maybe try tracking down a screening using it for the best quality you'll ever get to see.

The game delay wasn't entirely in Sony's hands. From the start it was a long and troubled process to get released.

We should be thanking Sony for the tons of merchandise we have out now and all that is coming out soon. More than we've had since 1989 and 84.

The Ecto-1 is strictly for promotion now, hence the tv's.

I guess I'm just being partial because Sony has been letting me use one of their 25ft Stay-Puft balloons for the last six months.

As for the GB1 deleted scenes, some exist, some don't. What we may have currently is probably all we're going to get in a release. I believe there's a few extra seconds here and there floating on YouTube.

It was filmed, but the footage has never been released/leaked.

Same with ALOT of filmed stuff…Rereading “Making Ghostbusters” by Don Shay refreshed my memory of this fact …Deleted scenes we haven't seen yet, alternate takes…

The biggies I want to see are the aforementioned “Fort Detmerring” scene, the “Ectomobile/Parking Ticket” scene, and the “Louis Vs. Park Muggers” scene…

I've actually heard that Ghostbusters doesn't look that great on Bluray. I don't have a Bluray player though. I don't really want to get one either. I'm happy with my Ghostbusters 1 and 2 DVDs.

I have the Blu-ray disc, but no player (one of these days…we've been pondering making a total transition in the house, but a good percentage of the DVDs we own are not and probably never will be on Blu-ray). I have seen the HD screencaps, and now that we finally have a high-def TV set I'm very interested in seeing it in that format. From what I've read, digitally removing the grain would make the image worse.

I'm now wondering if the deleted scenes even exist in film form anymore.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I mean Last Action Hero wasn't that popular of a movie and it got a Bluray release.

Last Action Hero was a unappreciated classic.
