Did they really have to release the whole series with the advertising announcements?

I'm grateful they released Real Ghostbusters but I would've rather not had the ghost popping up in the middle of an episode and saying, “we'll be right back after these messages.” I think it takes away from the pace of the show. Sorry if any of you like it.

They're not advertising announcement, they're commercial bumpers. They wanted to keep the show the way it was originally aired, so they kept the bumpers in. I don't really mind them really.

While it might have been nice to have an option to turn them off, for me, it adds to the nostalgia of watching the episodes. I almost wish the old ABC claymation things were still in there too.

Enter cowboy with guitar
Cowboy sings: “After these messages we'll be right back!”
Cowboy whistles and a horse drops on him

will always be my favorite of those

I guess I can see why they put them in.

….it adds to the nostalgia of watching the episodes.

This. For you young'uns, Saturday morning used to be “the” day for ‘toons. They’d start early and run until noon and you could get your fix of all the awesome cartoons.

As for the commercials, you tube has pretty much all of 'em if you need your full on 80s nostalgia fix. The Fun Fruits commercials with the laughing trees are particularly intense!

I have the Boogeyman Cometh on tape from back then with the commercials and the “ABC's One Saturday Morning” bumpers. With as always at least in my area, the voiceover during the credits saying Beetlejuice is next.

Unfortunately I can't say they add any nostalgia for me, the series was aired without commercial breaks over here in the UK so all they end up being is distracting, and spoiling the momentum of the episodes.

They probably figured that if the commerical bumpers weren't there, there'd be lots of complaints about “completeness”.

Granted, they still got those complaints (not many, but a few) when it was revealed that the Dave Coulier/Kath Soucie redubs of a few Season 1 episodes weren't included. I didn't have any burning desire to hear those again (since it only highlights how inferior the replacement voices were) but when you realize they had two versions of the clip show “Deja Boo” and the Slimer! episode “Mouse In The House”, I start to see their complaint.

I guess better to have something on there you don't care about and fast forward through than something you actually wanted not be there at all.
