Did they really have to release the whole series with the advertising announcements?

I really wouldn't of cared to have the redubbed episodes, because I couldn't stand Kath Soucie as Janine. Made the last few seasons almost unwatchable more than it already was. But the sake of completion, it could have been included as an alternate voice track. But apparently there are a few different versions of episodes where the music is different too, so yeah, there's a lot variations.

MOst notable is Knock Knock during the train ride sequence. In the original (and VHS release) it played a Tahiti song, on the DVD it just plays the RGB theme.

They probably figured that if the commerical bumpers weren't there, there'd be lots of complaints about “completeness”.

Granted, they still got those complaints (not many, but a few) when it was revealed that the Dave Coulier/Kath Soucie redubs of a few Season 1 episodes weren't included.
Anyone who likes Dave Coulier and Kathy Soucie over Laura Summer and Lorenzo Music is an idiot in my eyes.

now now, that's not necessary. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to the voice actors. Everyone involved did a top-notch job in their own right.

I guess I just don't get why they would change the voices for the first 2 seasons. I actually thought Dave sounded like a mixture of Lorenzo Music and himself. I prefer Lorenzo. I don't mind Soucie in seasons 3-5 but after that she got annoying.

I couldn't stand Kath Soucie from the beginning. It just didn't sound right with the character.

Well, Bill Murray reportedly might have unintentionally gotten Lorenzo fired because he said it didn't sound like him. There's no real concert answer for this. Janine's voice was changed after the network heads came in and started making changes, including think Janine needed to be more motherly or something to that extent, and changed her voice and appearance. Arsenio Hall left because he got a job opportunity for his own show and took it. Buster Jones in my eyes was the only good second voice actor on the show (he kind of sounded like a mix of Hall and Hudson).

I didn't mind Coulier that much, but his voice sounded really fake most of the time.

The problem I've always had with the “Bill complained” story is that the voice actors were told up front NOT to do impressions. Granted, Maurice ignored that idea, but still.

Agreed, the alt-audio tracks should have been there, for completeness.

I guess if Bill says something (weather intentional or not, or against what they originally wanted or not) they felt they had to please him. Though I don't think he actually made a big fuss over it, so like said, it could have unintentionally led to the recast.

Well Maurice did do a few voices being bringing his Harold Ramis voice for Egon. Geuss the only voice that did fit for Egon was a Harold Ramis so they went for it anyway even though it went against what was asked.

There is a theory that Bill Murray was joking and that the studio didn't know he was joking. Although you'd think he would've said he was joking. My main beef is that they got rid of Peter hating Slimer.

It's hard to tell weather or not Bill Murray is joking sometimes. His sarcasm can come off as serious.
