Do I Have Something Rare?

I was searching through some GB comics and came across something I forgot about for a while.

Back in Nov. of 2003 I was trying to complete my GB comic collection and ran into someone selling the Ghostbusters II Movie TPB (starring The Real Ghostbusters). Turns out it was James Van Hise, the writer of the comics.

I also bought a couple of Vol. 1 issues he had, but he gave me something unique for free that I didn't see mentioned on ECTO-1's NYGB ComicGuide.

He gave me a photocopy of the first draft of the TPB (which I'm happy that he dated and signed ). The photocopy seems to be laser printed in black & white. He said it was the final print showing the art & text before the originals were to be colored.

The cool thing was that it had a post-Vigo-slimed ending that was completely cut from the printed TPB. Unfortunately I can't find the e-mail where he told me why this was. Since the TPB was based off the final shooting script, I wonder if it was an alternate ending to the film itself. *shrug*

Anyway, I'm wondering how rare this might be, and if it happens to be something no one knew existed, let me know if anyone would like me to scan and share the extra pages.

Here's a pic of the front of the photocopy book showing the signature and date:

Not so much an alternate ending as an extended one… the film showed the four Ghostbusters on Liberty Island at a ceremony of sorts during the end credits but sadly lacked the dialogue sequence at the end of the shooting script which went into their respective family roots.

No way! :-O Whenever I've watched GB2 I shut it right off at the end. It's pretty much all I could stomach after they slimed the Statue of Liberty.

So I guess the comic was the dialogue from that scene, and these extra pages aren't all that rare.

Which is fine by me. While I wish I had a nugget to share, I don't mind not having to scan them now. :-)

What were you thinking?! There's sneak peaks at scenes that got dropped during the final editing!

Well, they are rare in the sense they're the ‘lost’ ending to the comic… I've only seen them appear once before on Doreen's site.

However as they are photocopies of the original inked pages they're significantly less valuable.

You wouldn't get much money compared to if you were selling the original pages… but the sentimental value should be more then sufficient as I assume you bought them to enjoy them.

Sorry if that was confusing.

Oh I understand they are not worth anything. I'm a collector of geek crap. Mainly toys, but I do have 2 original Bristol boards (actual pencils inked, no color) from 2 pages of one of the Legion comics:

I was mainly curious if the knowledge of the scene was rare. Seeing as this seems like *the* GB board, and it's been around for a long time, I'm not surprised that you all knew about it already. :-) :-)

Actually, if you checked the 3rd issue page on the Comicguide there's a link provided to a website that had that extended ending scanned and posted.
