In the cartoon Peter is always trying to blast Slimer. Always threaten to bust him. However there are many indicaters that he likes Slimer and it is all an act. In one eposide he tells everyone how much he hates Slimer. However later on in the episide when the ghostbusters are all sleeping he sneaks slimer pizza. From the way Slimer was waiting at the door I have a feeling that he infact likes Slimer. What do you think.

Because, I mean, movie or cartoon….different stories.

They have something like a sibling relationship, as that soblings drive each other crazy and want to hurt them, but if anything bad happens to the other one, they'll instantly put their differences aside.

Peter has a soft spot for slimer, but slimer really does make him mad at times. Kind of like Mr. Wilson and Dennis The Mennace.
