Does this mean the RGB comic will get reprinted?

I loved the RGB comic book from NOW and have several issues (I even got a letter printed in one of them!), but, like DC does with some of its reprints, I hope that somehow 88MPH Studios will acknowledge the comic of the 1980s by maybe get a hardcover reprint of the 1988-1992 series, complete with the 3D annuals.

That would be nice….really nice! (^_^)
Thats a good idea; I hope that there is a reprint, because I'm missing some issuses.

Unfortunately I doubt it. But you can check at your local comic book store if they still have any, which quite a few do.

I'd say the chances of the Now comics being reprinted are unlikely, but not impossible. Old Marvel series like Transformers and Star Wars have been reprinted in more recent times to capitalize on the renewed interests in the properties, after all.

One thing that might help is that somebody realizes that they can, in all honestly, slap a big blurb on the cover that says "Featuring the work of Mortal Kombat's John Tobias and Green Arrow's Phil Hester!!!"

You got a letter printed too, CJ?

I doubt it will be reprinted for quite awhile. But the Now comics are considerd “recent” comics. But they are really hard to find in comic stores. I don't really like reprints that much because they sometime change the way it looks or something. Other than that, a reprint would be a great idea!

Well, Now comics is back up and running, and should still have all the print rights to the stuff they've put out previously.

A good way for them to make some quick cash might be to do release a couple trades once the new GB series has gotten started. Marvel did the same thing with Transformers…once the Dreamwave stuff came out and was hugely popular, they sold off the print rights and out came the collections…

You can find Now comics at http://www.nowcomics.com

I think it was one of the 1990 issues. I remember I mailed it in and saw my name in print at the end.

But really, if the revival goes all well, maybe NOW wont forget the original comic that began it all. A nice little capper to GB fandom if there could be one.
peace :-)

Toygeek comes through for us again :-)

As to whether Now still has the rights to reprint their RGB stuff would have to depend on their contract with Columbia (transferred over to Sony), as Sony, not Now, owns the Ghostbusters characters.

(I know Toygeek knows this…just explaining it to everyone else )

And if they don't, it might be possible for another company to get the rights to print them. For example, it was Dark Horse, the current license holder of Star Wars comics, that reprinted Marvel's Star Wars books of the 70's and 80's…not Marvel.

While I'm dreaming, maybe Tony Caputo could put how the Peoplebusters/Professor Epimetheus story would've ended…

PS: I'll have to look for you CJ…mine were in issues 22 and 24

Yeah, I'm not completely sure how it works, but once a company has put out printed material from a license (i.e. a comic book based on the Ghostbusters) they should have limited reprint rights even once the contract has expired. It's because they actually OWN the rights to that representation of the characters.

It's tricky, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see trades of the old stuff sometime early next year…whether it's from Now or someone else. (I mean, Marvel sold their reprint rights for Transformers…even though I can't remember to whom, offhand…anything is possible)
